Advice wanted please thanks!

I have a fairly healthy diet.

I also have an underactive thyroid.

I can't stand gyms, but like swimming, aqua aerobics, dancing etc. quite like zumba. also quite keen on salsa classes (have done in past) but is this ok to lose weight? I wouldn't mind running but have been told that zumba burns more calories than running.

what should I do to start off with? I'm not unfit. Currently walk 30 minutes a day up and down steep hills on way to work.

Really struggling as I want to get fit and tone up/lose weight but not sure where/how to start.

I would do what you like without worrying too much what burns more calories. So I love running but Zumba doesn't appeal - so I burn way more calories from running than I would from Zumba as I actually get out and run, whereas I'd just find an excuse not to go to Zumba.

I think diet has more effect on weight than exercise though, unless you do quite a lot of exercise (which also makes you hungry).

What appeals to you? Couch to 5k is a good way to start running if you don't know where to start (if you find it too easy you can skip weeks, too hard ghen repeat some)

I'd start running - in your case, on the way home from work - as its something you can fit into your life so easily, no having to be somewhere at a particular time.

If you live somewhere that you can cycle, you can really burn some calories fast on that, and it is amazingly toning.

How often do you do zumba? If it's only once a week, that still gives you other days to run on, thus burning more calories per week.

Also agree that cycling is very satisfying - you can go further and faster and carry stuff.

Blue - zumba currently once a week but I want to do it twice.

I'd love to cycle but will keep that for weekends and if I get a bike. I wouldn't be safe in the mornings as not a morning person and need a caffeine Brew before I start off etc.

CMOT - yes I could easily run back from work - not all the way back as too far but to the next train station which is a good 20 minutes walk and then from my home station home.
