Well I finished. Very disappointed that it took me 10 hours though.

How did others do? Did you enjoy it?

I just talked to a colleague who did it last year. Same thing happened - the first wave left at 10.30 but because everybody pushed to the front i.e. were in later waves it took longer than planned.

It's unavoidable. Those who are fed up of hanging around on the night will just decide to push in and many who have done it before will lie on their application to get an early start.

The organisers don't have the resources to police the start to that extent. They have to rely on people being honest in the first place and tolerant of the problems the rule breakers create. I'm honest, but not tolerant, which is why it's not for me. Fortunately there are plenty of people who enjoy it enough to keep on doing it.
