Where shall I start?

Hi all

Gave birth to DC3 5 months ago and am wanting to get into some regular (pref toning) exercise.

I'm 5 ft 6 and circa 10 stone 5, but have no obvious muscle tone. The only exercise I currently do is "power" walking about 5k every other night plus school run of about 1 mile. It's kept me fit but I want to tone arms and abs.

Where should I start? I keep hearing about the shred but not sure if that's too hardcore for someone whose only exercise is walking.

Also, is it worth turning the 5k walk into a 5k run?

Can you get a babysitter and go to an exercise class somewhere? If so I love body pump which is weight lifting to music. Really tones you up quick and is fun. Pilates is also good.

Thanks for response - I was thinking of body pump only the other day. How often do you need to take a class for it to really work?

Yes I think a 5k run has definite advantages over a 5k walk, or even walk/run intervals

Also plenty of strength training that you can do at home to firm up body areas as desired.

I'm not up on the shred but there are shred related threads in this section and I'm sure the people on them will be able to help.

I do a body pump class once a week on Wednesdays (and hurt for the next 3 days) and then do a body balance class on Sundays. Other than that I just walk every day with the baby. I have noticed the effect although probably doing more helps more but hey there is more to life than exercise!

Oh also i have only been doing it a few weeks and thought it worked pretty quick.
