Would Pilates be good for toning up?

I've recently lost a lot of weight, but I'm still a bit wobbly around the middle and would like to tone up. I can't do a gym, and the only exercise I get is walking. A friend gave me a pilates DVD. I don't want to waste my time if something else would be more suitable. Any tips?

yes, brilliant, but you have to do it properly, maybe take a class or two with an instructor to make sure you are doing it right.

well done on the weight loss.

people swear by Gillian Michaels too for abs

I love pilates for toning, but would also recommend doing a couple of classes to get it right.
It also just helps you get to know your body well I think.
I'm off to a class in a bit Grin

I find pilates rather sedate, although useful for flexibility & strengthening the midsection, if you want to drop body fat something which gets you out of breath would be more efficient
