Hi. Can anybody offer advice on Spin Classes? Are they worth it? Do you need any special clothing / shoes?

I do 2 a week. They are ok. I go them because if I just go yo the gym and use treadmill etc, I don't put as much effort in as I do for a class.

No special clothes but don't wear overly baggy bottomed as they can snag. You need a decent pair of trainers as the pedals can really push through the soles of cheap ones and make it uncomfortable.

I was shocked by hoe tiring it can be. Alot harder than I thought, but worth it. My thighs have never been to slim and toned. Although I do go to the gym 5 times a week, so that's not just the spinning.

I loved spinning classes, can't wait to start going again.

Yes, wear leggings rather than shorts/baggy trousers. You'll get really hot and sweaty, so wear light clothes rather than cotton t-shirts.

You'll also get really thirsty, so a sports bottle you can easily drink from (I.e. no lid) is a must.

I love spin classes. Did do upto 5 a wk and now getting back into it post baby. If you enjoy it but some cycle shoes as make huge difference as have hard sole and clips for pedals.

Good calorie burner and you work as hard as you want.

Sorry about half post gave fat fingers and I phone !!!

Spin classes are great. Hard work though! You just need cycling shorts and trainers - normal gym kit. I'd wear cycling shorts that end just below the knee - short shorts tend to ride up and you have to keep yanking them down! If you get really keen, you can get special shoes that clip into pedals, but you don't need them.

Spin is great but wear trainers with a nice thick sole as the pedals can really dig in if you have silly thin soles.

Dont wear flared trousers, wear slim fit or shorter ones so you dont get caught in the pedals and make sure your laces are tucked away.

Do I need padded Cycling Shorts or can I get away without them?

You'll be fine without.....the first few hurt my bum and it felt a bit tender but once you get used to it you'll be fine Smile
