Knee problems with shred - tips/alternative DVD

I have never got past level 2 or shred for more than 2 weeks but I did start to see results, however it gives me really sore knees and occasionally a sore ankle
Am I just doing something wrong?
Are there any DVDs that are as good as JM?

How sore are your knees? I think a bit of aching is normal if you're new to exercising, especially if you're overweight. I had constant aches the first time I did the shred and level 2 is tough on the knees. You could try modifying the jumps to make them lower impact, I do this due to spd and still have great results. You could also have bad form for squats and lunges, which is not good for knees.

Yes, some of those lunges and squats can be tricky to get right- you need to stick out your arse like a duck so that your knees don't go too far forwards.

There are exercises that you can do to strengthen your knees, have a look at these.

I have trouble getting up and down for a few days afterwards, past the usual exercise ache, I have a stone to lose but I'm still in my healthy I range so not really overweight and I walk the school run so I do get some light exercise in general

I will keep an eye on squats and lunges though, I think squats are ok but I always seems to lose my balance on the pendulum lunges so may be getting those wrong
