Is there a general running thread?

I am pretty new to running (started in Septmember) but have some pretty ambitious targets in 2014 (10k and half marathon) so looking for other runners to advice, kick up the backside and generally chat about all things running.

I have seen a few couch to 5k threads but I didn't get on with that so can't use those threads so thought a thread for all runners whether they are new to it or experienced runners would be good?

I have now joined the garmin group but it doesn't open :(

EauRouge · 26/02/2014 17:11

It's working for me now Hmm I added you as a connection in case you were wondering who it was.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 26/02/2014 22:05

Had a few days off then did 4.6 miles in 47 mins, very happy with that!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2014 07:38

Well that was a wet one!!!

ThursdayLast · 27/02/2014 09:06

Well done twelve and cinnamon!
I'm not sure if I'm going to get out today but have pilates later so won't feel too guilty!
Meant to go out yesterday when DS napped, but he declined so there went that plan. Tomorrow is grandparent babysitting day so fingers crossed Smile

EauRouge · 27/02/2014 09:11

Still following my strict regime of sitting. The good news (and also for OhOne and Cinnamon) is that the weather around these parts at the weekend is meant to be not too windy.

I'm going to try and squeeze in a couple of k on Saturday morning just to stretch my legs a bit, but it's DD2's party that day (she's 3 today!) so I'll be a bit pushed for time. Big pasta dinner planned for Saturday evening.

ThursdayLast · 27/02/2014 09:26

Well done Eau, getting through all that sitting, you're a real trooper Wink

Happy Birthday mini Eau!

EauRouge · 27/02/2014 09:28

It's hard work, I tell you Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2014 13:54

Did you manage the biscuits too EauRouge?

I fear that a dry weekend will be too little too late Confused

Sirzy · 27/02/2014 15:46

Knee is feeling achy but better today. Going to wait til Monday to go out again though just to be safe.

Hope those in pain are feeling better. Went to our sports injury clinic at work today and it was really good - got some better stretches and advice, as well as some treatment for my achy ankles.

ThursdayLast · 27/02/2014 20:18

Thats a good thing to have EAT, very useful.
Get well soon everyone!
My hips and inner thighs are aching aching aching from Pilates, so I've prescribed myself a hot bath & Wine

youbethemummylion · 27/02/2014 20:27

Gait analysis at the sports shop led to 150 spent on insoles and trainers add in patella bands and ibuprofen gel and a weeks rest and Im back running. I can still 'feel' my knees but its nowhere near the crippling pain from before. Heres hoping I can get back to the distances I was doing quickly race day is looming. Just caught up with this thread I was too jealous to keep up whilst I was resting.

ThursdayLast · 27/02/2014 21:41

Glad to have you back youbemummy Smile
I'm looking forward to having my gait analysed at some point, was it fun?

youbethemummylion · 27/02/2014 22:55

Yes Thursday it was quite fun and theres nothing like watching yourself run over and over again to focus your mind on your technique. I have one foot which is pretty much perfect and one which over pronates a lot so thats why both knees were hurting as I was all unbalanced. The girl spent a lot of time with me to get the right shoes and the difference when watching the playback was amazing actually I hadnt realised the shoes could actually make that much difference, well worth the money.

Sirzy · 28/02/2014 12:30

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Hope the weather stays dry

Sirzy · 01/03/2014 07:51
