If you were me, would you do this run?

I have a 10k on Sunday that I had been training quite hard for and I am really looking forward to. I obviously trained a bit too hard though because last Monday I ended up with shin splintsSad . I was gutted and followed the advice I received on here about rest, ice and ibuprofen. I also started swimming to give my legs a bit of a rest. 10 days on and while my leg is better it still hurts a bit in the mornings and at the end of the day. I also have a blocked ear from the swimming that could possibly now be an infection. should I run anyway? Everyone is so proud of me for getting this far and I will have lots of support at the rave. The thought of saying that I can't do it makes me feel sick. DH says I'll be fine. Will I be making a horrible mistake if I go ahead?

The blocked ear may well be just ear wax that has swollen from being water soaked.

As for the run, I'm not sure, I've no interest in any kind of events or competitions because I don't need it to motivate me and I'm hyper aware of the need to stay injury free.

If you start and it's painful how will you feel about dropping out?

I think I world carry on regardless. This is the first race I've done so maybe my expectations are just too high. I know I can run the distance so I have no idea why I am putting the pressure on myself. I'm not doing it for charity or anything either so I'm not letting anyone down by not doing it. I just can't imagine trekking friends and family that I didn't do it. I am over thinking it aren't I?!

In your position I'd be concerned about causing damage that would put me out of action...but I don't know how likely that is.
carrying on regardless of pain has only ever led to more pain and having to take time out, in my experience
