Who exercises first thing in the morning ?

I'm working long days every day and I'm really tired in the evening, really can't face exercise in the evening as I have housework/dinner/admin to do. I have a gym membership and I have barely been there. I'm considering getting up early and go to the gym before work once or twice during the week as a start and obviously more at the week end. Do you think it's a good idea ? Will I be more tired after a work out ?

How early would you have to be up and out? I think in principle it's a great idea and I've read/heard that exercise in the morning is supposed to be better for you.

6.15 at the earliest

I exercise first thing, I find it sets me up for the day. My gym does classes starting at 7am and they always have a good amount of people attending.

I exercise first thing. I run as the sun comes up (glorious) and also go to the gym a lot. My gym opens at 6.30, classes from 7. It's not always easy but is the best start to the day IMO.

I sometimes go to the gym at 7 on a weekday. It is packed by then - it opens at 6.30!

I always feel better after a workout - usually go at 8 on the weekend, bit later if it was a late night.

I exercise first thing mon - friday, am usually in the gym by 8.

I could go later but if I get busy at work sometimes I try and talk myself out of it...best get it out the way plus it sets me up for the rest of the day.

I'm very much an early morning person - up anywhere between 2.30am and 3.30am - yes, you did read that right!

My gym opens at 6.00am and by that time, after being up a couple of hours, I ready and raring to go.

If I left it until later in the day then I'd not bother, so I've got into a habit of working out for an hour to an hour and half every day - I'm home by 7.30-8.00am, ready for breakfast, and my workout is done for the day!

I get up at 7:15am, shred, then I am out of the house for work by 8:20am.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 05/10/2013 07:22

I'm at the gym by 6:30am most days

I exercise first thing. I will be going for a run in about half an hour.

Sparklysilversequins · 05/10/2013 07:36

I do if I have childcare (which is rare) eg when I was on holiday with a friend. I got up at 6 every morning to go for a run, leaving them all asleep. It's hard sometimes but really sets me up for the day. I would do that every morning if I could.

Sparklysilversequins · 05/10/2013 07:37

waycat what to you go to bed?!

I'd love to be like that. You'd get so much done.

waycat · 05/10/2013 13:26

SparkleySequins, I go to bed at around 8.30pm, read for a while until my eyes get too heavy and then turn my light out.

Believe it or not I've never needed an alarm to get up when I do - it's just my body clock.

I used to workout at home so could get up and come to life, do my workout, shower and dress - and it would still only be 5.00 am!

Yes, you certainly can get a lot done when you get up before everyone else goes to bed!
