Have pedometer will compete, care to joint me?

Inspired by last nights Horizon (Monitor Me) I have dug out my old pedometer and am going to try to do 10,000 steps a day - doing house work has got me up to 750 already today.

On the show they became quite competitive when there was a few involved so I thought I would try to recruit some competition!

My pedometer will measure steps, calories and I think amount of time spent moving around, I will post this info later for anyone interested?

steps - 14624 (day at home with DS age three, will not manage this tomorrow when I am at work all day)

That is 12.43 Km! that means that DS must have run about 24kms today Grin

only 8890 steps today and that was all around my office

If I had a pedometer I'd join you! Just watched Horizon on your recommendation.
Wondering what I can monitor with just the iPhone?
:-)

Hi TinaSurry
I think my pedometer came out of a cereal packet a few years ago Grin
I suspect that you could monitor the distance you travel a day on your iPhone using GPS?
I'm so excited that I'm possibly no all alone.
Today will be hard as it is raining and I'm off work with a 3yr old again but the pedometer is firmly in place Grin

14,138 steps today, not sure how I managed that!

Hello :)

I have an iphone and use the striiv app. You can 'compete' directly with your friends on it. It does calorie counting not sure how accurately and mileage too.

Bilpbip · 22/08/2013 13:55

Nagoo! Hi :),

I was starting to think no one was interested. My three year old DS keeps grabbing the pedometer and that skews the results somewhat Grin. I can't do milage but can do Kms.

I will do this! I have my fitbit which does miles, cals, steps ect.

Sign in everyday? Today (well yesterday now) I did 16017 steps.

Nagoo · 23/08/2013 00:46

Hello :)

Slow day today, 9267.

Most of the week I've been between 12 and 14k. :)
How do you like the fit bit jam? Does it have an app to get the figures? I couldn't suss out how the lights motivate you?

JamEyelid · 23/08/2013 01:13

I have the Fitbit One so it counts floors too, it also displays the steps, cals, time, miles on the screen. this is what the dashboard looks like and this is what the iPhone app looks like. I love it. I have increased my steps from 2000 a day to 25000 some days and I have only had it a month. It ties in with MFP and you set your own goals.

I want a flex one real bad...

I want to see how long I keep it up for though. Do you enter what you eat?

JamEyelid · 23/08/2013 01:22

I don't, I did for the first day to test it out. I am going to start doing so soon though.

The food database is American so it is better to input food into My fitness pal and the fitbit syncs with it automatically one you have linked the accounts.

JamEyelid · 24/08/2013 23:59

11739 yesterday and 20020 today.

HoraceHorseface · 26/08/2013 08:33

A quick Fitbit question - can these work/sync with Android phones?

Nagoo · 26/08/2013 09:18

I'm still lurking but I have mainly been hungover and sitting on my arse Grin

JamEyelid · 26/08/2013 13:21

I don't have an Android but there is an app. From what I can see it looks the same as the Apple app. I just found this list of devices it can sync with though and its not many - the list.

I got 22837 yesterday (mainly because I needed the last 3k more to beat somebody.) Today is going to be a low day as I had the longest lie in Grin

MollyBerry · 27/08/2013 23:23

Jam eyelid how are you managing to fit so much in! I'm in awe! I did 28000 today only because I did a 2 hour+ run...

JamEyelid · 28/08/2013 19:30

20.5k and then 9k yesterday, was a very busy day.

Ha I'm in awe of a 2 hour run! I'm slowly getting through c25k. 28k is huge! Luckily DP bought a huge gym type treadmill before I met him and then never used it and I have taped my iPad to it. I jump on and watch Netflix in the morning then again at night.

Nagoo · 28/08/2013 19:34

I ran 6k yesterday and still only got 9000 steps. I am doing something wrong here Hmm

I am determined to get my 10000 in today even if I have to go for a walk at half 11 :o

MollyBerry · 28/08/2013 20:03

surely 1000 steps is not 1k? I don't step 1m per step!
I get 10k + by walking EVERYWHERE (unless it's too far to walk, then I boris bike)

Nagoo · 28/08/2013 20:25

Oh I don't mean it should equate to more, I mean I'm sat on my arse too much :o

MollyBerry · 28/08/2013 21:10

haha get up run around the room, thats about 50! do it every 10 mins and you'll be on 10k in no time!

Bilpbip · 04/09/2013 18:43

Hello!
I have been away on holiday and everything but the kids are back in school and I am trying to get life back in order so the pedometer will be back in place tomorrow.
I am very impressed by some of your stats Grin
be back tomorrow
