Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Blathers - Hope your knee is OK. I will come to your 50th parkrun if I can still run after my marathon Smile

I need to run 5 miles tomorrow, so will get DH to drop me off so I can run home afterwards. I'm not pushing for a PB Smile, so am drinking wine Grin

I have found running a real chore this week. But I was talking to someone today who has run ultras, who said it's normal to feel like this at this stage of training. He also said that he got slower (which I have too), but said that once I start to taper I will bounce back and get faster again - I hope so!

I hope you all have great runs tomorrow Smile

Newrowsees · 20/09/2013 19:11

I'm not aiming for one per se, but a PB is always nice! Anything under 23 would be good for me at the mo - I haven't had the chance to do much of my interval training this week, which I think might be what makes all the difference.

MelanieCheeks · 20/09/2013 19:28

At the minute for me, under 30's good, under 29's great, and under 28 I havent yet reached!

I've not run for a few weeks, and will be trying a new harness on my dog, so I'll take enjoyment and a happy dog as my outcomes.

Newrowsees · 20/09/2013 19:38

Isthat, how old is your DS? I'm having sleep trouble with mine at the moment - he wakes up 4-5 times a night and refuses to be put down in his cot all of a sudden. I'm struggling to keep my eyes open!

woundbobbin · 20/09/2013 20:25

I'm not running tomorrow going to a wedding - had planned to do parkrun then go but just realised its a 11 o'clock start at the wedding so we are going to have to leave the house at 9.15 (I'm not panicking)
010203 I've always felt grim towards the end of marathon training then suddenly you taper and carb load & feel amazing
Is that I truly sympathise re the sleep dd has always woken at least twice a night and often more its exhausting

Blatherskite · 20/09/2013 20:32

Knee is feeling better today after lots of rest and stretching. I think I've pulled/strained my IT band again. No PB for me tomorrow though as I'm tail running again but at least I can take it easy without feeling lazy.

It would be lovely to have company for my 50th OhOne and if you ever fancy an Ultra then there are plenty in MK. A friend of mine runs them regularly and I'm going to be helping him out with one soon. He does just marathons too if you're not crazy enough for an ultra Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/09/2013 21:38

Hahahahahaha

This man is seriously bonkers.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/09/2013 21:39

Thank you for the encouragement woundbobbin - I feel like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!

Blatherskite · 20/09/2013 22:04

The guy who runs the ultras in MK is currently doing 7 marathons in 7 states (of the USA) in 7 days.

Easy peasy for the man who has run 10 in 10 7 years running!

I'll be doing one of his events next March but only because he's organising a half Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/09/2013 08:23

Morning Brew and Cake for later

Looking a bit damp here, but will not let that put me off Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/09/2013 10:20

I think I may have come close to a PB Smile. I wasn't planning on running fast, but I was following the 30 min pacer, who always starts fast and pulls back for miles 2 and 3. I accidentally ended up in front of him to let someone past, then I saw my friend who is in the 74-79 age bracket and ran with him the rest of the way. We finished on 28-something. Then I bounced another 2 miles home feeling better than I have all week Grin.

Looking forward to seeing how you all got on later.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/09/2013 10:22

Oh and one of our regulars did his 100th run today, and had brought Cake for the finish. Lovely!

Iggity · 21/09/2013 10:49

Down on last week..about 30:20. Didn't use a pacer and did a 10 minute warm up around the lake and think I used up all my energy doing that. Anyway, no run for me next week as have half marathon on the Sunday so will be volunteering with my DS and letting DH try and break the 20 minute mark.
Hope everyone enjoyed it this morning.

Newrowsees · 21/09/2013 11:29

Hey parkrunners! Was a lovely morning for running here - think I just did a PB today, according to my phone. But will wait for the official time. Doing intervals on the treadmill is definitely the way forward - even my really fast stretches weren't too much of a shock to the system, as I have a better idea of what that pace should feel like now. Hope everyone enjoyed their runs today!

LillethTheCat · 21/09/2013 11:32

Lovely day here too. I took DS this morning. I was a bit worried as last time (June) he walked more than ran, but today he ran the whole way and we did it in about 36 mins. Will find the official time later, but Im really proud of him Grin

Not able to go next week, but the week after it will just be me again.

Newrowsees · 21/09/2013 12:06

That's brilliant Lilleth - how old is your DS?

Blatherskite · 21/09/2013 14:02

I did a tail run PB today. Only 46 minutes :)

We had a lady there from Bushey Park today who had done 310 parkruns!! She was wearing her very bling-y 250 t-shirt.

Makes my 43 seem much less impressive.

IsThatTrue · 21/09/2013 14:40

newrow ds2 is 9mo, he's a real sleep nightmare atm tbh!

Well today I PB'd by a whole minute (a minute 16seconds on that course)!

My new pb is 28.20!!

And I can't remember who recommended intervals but I think that's what is helping me. I did a sprint section on my first lap too which really helped my time.

Well done parkrunners!

Newrowsees · 21/09/2013 16:07

I have a 9mo DS too - comforting to hear someone else is going through this too. I'm open to any tips you have on how to get him to sleep for longer stretches, while not being held...?

Newrowsees · 21/09/2013 16:14

Ooh my time just came through - 21.36! I'm really pleased with that, as it's an improvement of over 10 minutes since I started running 3 months ago, when breaking the half hour mark didn't seem possible. I even had two guys thank me for spurring them on - I could feel them speeding up as I drew level with them, probably thinking "I can't get beaten by a girl!!" Grin

I do get really thirsty while running though - I try not to drink too much as I hate the feeling of it all sloshing around in my tummy. How much water, and when should I be drinking before a 5k?

Lizzylou · 21/09/2013 16:40

Well done park runners, some awesome times today.
I think I have relit my love of running today, for the first time in ages I really enjoyed my run. I felt I had done really well, but time was 30.55, to be fair I did run with my sil on her first patkrun for a good while but I felt I had cracked a pace after that Confused
I think I need to run more tbh, I do other stuff (bodypump, spinning, metafit etc) but if I want to get better at running, I need to bloody run!

IsThatTrue · 21/09/2013 17:27

newrow you are amazing! Does running come naturally to you? I still have to fight the 'I could just stop and walk for a bit' for almost my whole run! I do love the feeling after though. Unfortunately no words of wisdom on the sleeping front other than its a phase and it'll pass. Dd is 8 and ds1 is 6, I can promise I'm not having to cuddle them while they sleep Grin

lizzy if you stick with your SIL for a while you would have had to really tank it to make up the pace. Don't be downhearted, there's always next week.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/09/2013 18:29

Snap IsThat - I was 28:20 as well!

Some great running today from MN parkrunners and their family members!

Knackerelli · 21/09/2013 18:56

Some absolutely fabulous times today, real inspiration! Managed 29:21, a pb Grin Think will take next week off though as have promised I'd take the kids to the cinema for the £1.50 showing at ten o'clock. Know what I'd prefer to do!!

IsThatTrue · 21/09/2013 19:00

knackerelli well done on your pb! I quite like the kids am viewings but they do Sundays here too so I don't have to sacrifice parkrun!Wink
