So I went out today for 45 mins and nearly puked! I used to cycle 6 miles a day! How do I get back into it?

Go out and do it again! But maybe a shorter route, or more slowly, till that seems easy, then build it up. Just keep at it.

Agree, you just have to keep trying. I started cycling last autumn for the first time in 25 years and only managed about 4 miles in an hour the first time, with frequent stops! I can do 8 miles in 50 mins now if I really try Smile

Was thinking of going to work and back tomorrow, 3 miles there and 3 miles back. Dh thinks too much as I haven't been in traffic for 6 years!

Go for it! Three miles isn't that far. Just give yourself plenty of time and take a break if you need to.

You don't have to do it every day to start with. Start with a couple of days a week and build up. As bikinihedgetrimmers says, 3 miles isn't far. Whereabouts are you? Does anyone offer cycle training in the vicinity? That will build your confidence in traffic and help with route planning. Try www.sustrans.org.uk/

You can do it!

Well I cycled to work this morning, it's actually 4.8 miles and it took me 40 mins. Not looking forward to the journey home as its a slow incline the whole way! but am going to take it easy

Well done you! How was the journey back? And have you done it again today, or are you giving yourself a day off?

mrsyattering · 10/06/2013 02:35

took me over an hour to get home,I was broken but I had forgot I was giving blood at work. so was told to promise to stop for waterGrin proud of myself. Work two days a week so planning to cycle those days with fun cycling in between
