Not the best run

Just went out for what I hoped would be a 10km run (at least). My knee gave way at the 2 mile point. Struggled through to 3 mile/5km point and still did sub-30. Did run/walk hill intervals on the way home. However, I've got a half marathon next weekend. Feeling disheartened and my knee's still sore. Was hoping to improve my half marathon time from a few months ago. Don't think that will happen now. Sorry for long rant just coming to terms with it before starting on the washing and getting breakfast. Hmm

I'm just back from running 4 miles with the girls at running club. One of them wears a knee support as she had issues too. Maybe try one? Don't make it worse!

Understand your disappointment tho!

I do have one - just didn't put it on - no idea why?

Get icing the knee, it's your best bet. Ice, massage, ice, massage....

Hi englishteacher78 - I've seen you on another thread.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my GP told me to rest my knee for 2 weeks and then ease back into it.

I've been icing it every 4 hours, taking Ibroprofen but have managed to cycle and swim. Did a little 2k fun run with my DD yesterday (took it steady 13mins). But I'm not running again until Saturday - tail runner at my local parkrun.

I did buy new running trainers last week, (my others had done about 400 miles), had my gait checked. My gait had strengthened since my first fitting, so I'm now in neutral with more cushioning. It's worth having them checked out.

Finally, after chatting to some people at the parkrun on Saturday, I've also ordered a knee support.

Hope you heal quickly. It's pretty frustrating whilst you wait.

It really was my own fault. I have a knee support but didn't wear it. That'll teach me!

Do you find the support works? I'm waiting for mine to arrive and I want to test it out at the weekend?

englishteacher78 · 03/06/2013 17:20

I've run with kiniseotape and it was better havent run with support on yet.

Is it to keep your knee cap tracking in the right way? It's only my left knee that causing problems. I think it's connected to old sporting injuries on my left ankle.
I need to be able to run!!!

englishteacher78 · 03/06/2013 19:43

In my case it stops it moving too much I believe. Bizarrely it's my left knee too!
