Just got in from w2r3. It has got easier during the week but still a bit of a push! Anxious about the next run...

Dingle · 27/06/2013 19:37

Needs a kick up the backside. I had a terrible night and was still wide awake at 5am. Rushed around and got the children to school, rushed to work where I have been run ragged for over 6 hours non-stop by pre-schoolers. Mad rush back home to my 2 DC again.

Cooked a lovely roast dinner and was sooo tempted to have a nice glass of wine with it....I have resisted....so far but need to get my backside of this sofa and find the energy to plod around with W3R2.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/06/2013 19:54

You've resisted the wine you can find the motivation Dingle then you can enjoy a guilt free glass :)

w2r2 completed in the pissing rain. Where is my medal?

hairtwiddler · 27/06/2013 20:14

Well a nasty migraine today stopped my w7r3. I've cycled to work every day though. Might manage tomorrow but or now still feeling rubbish. Well done all. Keep going! Seven weeks ago i could barely manage a minute and now i can do 30. It's ace.

queenjellybelly · 27/06/2013 20:21

Right then. No bloody knee twinge is gonna beat me! Resting til Monday, which will be a week since last run (which was w2 r3). On Sunday am off to running shop in meadowhell where I will have my gait analysed & get some lovely new APPROPRIATE trainers & possibly a knee support. In the meantime am browsing tinterweb for ideas on fabulously effective stretches. First time I've been motivated to get my arse moving in my almost 40yrs. Ill be damned if I'm going to let my body protest now!

queenjellybean I too am suffering with a sore knee. It's ok if I rest it for a day or two between runs, but I was doing a weekly 10k which I haven't been able to do for about a month. Anyway, I'll get to my point ... I've been looking into fallen arches and knee pain. My feet are definitely flatter than they were say 5 or 10 years ago. I have always done sport from being a child, I played hockey for years (and that involves a lot of running) - never had any knee issues. So I'm considering seeing a sports physio for further analysis and advice. Last time I had sports phyiso (netball injury) I had this weird deep massage on my tendons or ligaments in my left ankle - bloody torture! So that memory is putting me a little bit at the moment.

Anyway, been for a 4k run tonight. Managed it in 28 mins at a pace, still not great. I find my knee is ok at this pace (just icing it now as a precaution) but I can't extend my leg stride to pick up the pace. Hoping to be able to go a little fast on Saturday, my DD is aiming for 32 min BP run.

pennygallops · 27/06/2013 21:26

Whoops! Putting me off Blush

queenjellybelly · 27/06/2013 22:11

Sorry to hear about your knee pain pennygallops. Though its good to hear its possible to get through it. My friends hubby is a sports therapist (for a famous Olympic runner no less) & he fixed my dodgy pelvis for me in just one session. He's a miracle worker! Hope you get to see a decent therapist who fixes you. Though, it seems to me that if you can run that distance you must be really fit & committed! I'm going to repeat week 2 next week just to take it steady but I'm really eager to progress enough just to run for 10 minutes, let alone 10k.

Dingle · 27/06/2013 22:14

Well done everyone! Despite me feeling like all I wanted to do was curl up on the sofa I got my act together and "hit the treadmill!"

W3R2 - I pushed myself a bit more than last time. I walked at 4.3 and plodded at 4.9mph. Notched up 286 cals and covered 2.3 miles.

Not really sure if I am pacing it right, but hey ho! xx

pennygallops · 27/06/2013 22:23

Thanks queenjellybelly. I did do an extra 2 or 3k yesterday with my class - we 'ran the school field' as part of the school run. I wanted to run to support a few of my class who have issues with gross-motor skills. So I didn't manage a day's rest yesterday, maybe why my knee is a little worse tonight.
I really want my knee sorted - run is perfect for me!

TwasBrillig · 27/06/2013 22:29

Well done dingle! I'm planning on doing wk 3 run 2. Tomorrow morning and hoping I'll find it easier than run 1!

watchingout · 27/06/2013 23:13

Why, why, WHY did I read the stoppit and hamwidge thread this evening?! I have a w4 date at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning and now I have to catchup with all the stuff I should have been doing..

TwasBrillig · 28/06/2013 08:49

I did it! And found it marginally easier!

Are there any other rather overweight people on here? I'm concerned about how quickly the runs increase (20 minutes in 2 weeks???) Would love to either be encouraged that its possible or that its ok to repeat!! The old book I had on running took 7 weeks to get to 20 minutes but I do like the nhs podcasts.

I want to believe!

Trazzletoes · 28/06/2013 08:53

Brillig I'm clinically obese. But still only on w2 but its going ok so far!

Dingle · 28/06/2013 09:07

I am overweight Twas. I have not really been under 10 stone since having DC and they are now 13 & 11. Weight has just crept on slowly, middle aged spread I suppose! LOL

watchingout · 28/06/2013 09:12

My BMI is 28 - overweight. I've just finished week 4 Grin. Bit of a push but I'm still here, functioning, and with no injuries

blizy · 28/06/2013 10:06

I am clinicly obese too trazzle, since my dd died 2 years ago I have been non stop comfort eating, but I have now stopped and I'm getting my act together, I have to lose weight in order o qualify for fertility treatment. I am doing w1 r3 today, I'm doing on the treadmill as im also joining he gym and havevmyninduction at 11am.

This three is such an inspiration, keep up all the fab work ladies! 😀

EeTraceyluv · 28/06/2013 10:15

Did w4 r3 last night (was eminemmerdale, fancied a corrie inspired nc Grin ) actually did it all without any mishap or stopping. To everyone on the earlier weeks, it really really does work - I can't believe it

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2013 10:32

Well done Dingle, don't worry too much about pace! I tried to keep a brisk walk but slow enough so I could recover properly. It's good to keep your rate up but not so much that you can't manage the next run. If you were on the road you wouldn't have a clue so you wouldn't worry, can you ignore the pace if it's worrying you?

I was 14 1/2st at 5'5" when I started TwasBrillig, had already lost half a stone in the month before I started. I think being lighter does make it easier as I really started increasing distance a while after I'd got to my target weight but didn't stop me all the time I was loosing and still overweight/obese.

Sounds like a fab reason for losing weight and getting fitter blizy, hope you get your treatment soon and it's successful!

OP posts:
Dingle · 28/06/2013 11:05

cinnamon I actually like knowing my pace. I think I would actually feel lost with my treadmill display! Grin

I am 5'5", and was up to 11st 7lb when I first started C25K. I am now on week 3, but I had about 5 weeks of doing nothing in between when I was poorly. Despite my awful IBS and the fact I often go without a poo for up to 6 daysBlush I weighed in this morning at 11st 1/2lb....(does a happy dance) So close to being back in the 10st range.
It not only makes my feel better in myself, gives me a much needed sense of achievement, but it does appear to be working. I am slowly losing weight and a colleague said how noticeable it was, so it's hopefully toning too!

Fab fitness program, fab inspiration, fab thread. Keep it up everyone, we can do it. xxx

cinnamongreyhound · 28/06/2013 11:18

That's ok, just thought it may be causing you more stress than help! I know how you feel, have been 9 1/2st for a year having spent my entire adult life between 13 1/2 and 18 1/2st and I feel so much better for it. I'm never going back ignores little voices saying you will despite everyone including my mum and best friend thinking I will. Well done on your loss and your w3r2 Grin

OP posts:
TwasBrillig · 28/06/2013 11:46

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm 5 ft6 and 16 stone! Most of it went on in the last 18 months comfort eating etc. I wasn't anywhere near this big pregnant!

Anyway have so far lost half a stone with good eating exercise etc and hoping it will come off. Just makes me extra anxious. Very good to hear it gets easier as the weight comes off though! And I kept putting off starting until I wasn't obese but decided it might help and to do it anyway.

blizy · 28/06/2013 13:34

I done w1r3,earlier n the treadmill, I was strange at first but I soon got into it. I am looking forward to my next run now.

Well done with the weight loss brillig and cinnamon! Last week I started out at 13st 1lb, today I am 12st 11lb Grin. I never knew exercising and running could be so much fun!
