Oo look 500 posts already!

Grin At cinnamon... I only found a teensy trace of endorphins this week after w4r1. I was DREADING it, to the point of dreaming running the night before. Not a good start to the week! But when I heard Laura telling me that 5, yes FIVE minutes had finished, I did a little dance in the middle of the road. (It was 0630...)

Now I'm getting huge satisfaction from having stuck it this far. and refusing to look at what next week brings

BIWI · 26/06/2013 16:44

Oh yes. Don't look ahead to week 5, whatever you do! Wink Grin

CiderwithBuda · 26/06/2013 16:49

Not sure about endorphins yet but I do look forward to my runs. Never thought I would say that! And I then feel smug for the rest of the day!

Bought myself a book about running today. Count myself as a proper runner now I can do 3 whole minutes! Grin.

amigababy · 26/06/2013 17:32

I think I overestimated my abilities, I took my w4r2 to a new location, a supposedly flat grassy recreation area. Probably set off too fast, got caught by the teeny gradient and head wind, and couldn't get anywhere near 5 minutes. It was a bit better the 2 nd five, but only because I turned and headed down wind to get to the end. I think I can see myself doing week 4 twice to steady myself

TwasBrillig · 26/06/2013 19:39

I'm really behind already and so tired but really ought to go out for wk 3 run 1. I'll feel more energized won't I? Right now I just want to sleep!

Bakingnovice · 26/06/2013 20:08

Twas we are at the same stage! I did w3r1 on tues and doing run 2 tmrw. Just do it. You'll feel amazing, plus energy in equals energy out. I was feeling headachy and tired on Tuesday and did my run after much deliberation. Once I'd done I felt more energetic and ready to tackle the day. Plus, it's not as bad as it sounds. The three min sections fly by.

CiderwithBuda · 26/06/2013 20:26

Baking is right Twas. The three minutes goes quickly. It doesn't feel like twice the amount of 90 secs for some reason! And think how good you will feel when it's done!

nextphase · 26/06/2013 21:10

watching I end up listening to the next weeks run after I've finished the cool down, and not quite got home yet. I'm on w4 atm too.
W5r1 doesn't sound bad - infact I make it less running than this week! Not sure what r2 and 3 bring - it changes each run!
But the way I've improved following the first few weeks, I can actually beleive I may be capable of building up to 30 mins of running!

watchingout · 26/06/2013 21:18

I looked at the park run web page todayShockShock

FoundAChopinLizt · 26/06/2013 21:21

Hi all, just got back from my first ever race!

5k in 26mims 30secs..

So v happy! Especially as I'm 40 something...

Dd 22mins 40secs, she's still thinking that's not good enough, compared to her 5k times.

DramaAlpaca · 26/06/2013 21:24

Twas & Baking we are all at about the same stage - about the same age too, I think Smile

I love the support on here. Week 3 Run 1 for me either tomorrow or Friday, depending on how organised I am.

TwasBrillig · 26/06/2013 22:09

Wow! First race at under 30 mins. I am impressed. Well done. My aim is to get to a park run when I graduate this. I want not to come in last. .

Thanks so much for the encouragement above. I finally got out and did it and feel so good for completing it. However I did find it really really hard going so feel a bit dispirited about improving. Still I guess I couldn't imagine running 3minutes at the beginning and have just about. Twice!

Twas Brillig - feeling very old, fat and unfit.

Dingle · 26/06/2013 22:27

Twas Baking & Alpaca can I join your gang too! I will have to scroll back and have a nosey at your ages! Grin

I am 47 and due to do W3R2 tomorrow! I am loving it and feel quite lost on my non-run days.

The support, motivation and encouragement is fab! Thank you all! x

FoundAChopinLizt · 26/06/2013 22:30

'twasbrillig

Thanks, it's crazy how you can get from non-runner to runner by following a free podcast.

I need Laura to tell me to sort out the rest of my life.

Slattern2domesticgoddess ?

CiderwithBuda · 26/06/2013 22:35

Found - that's fantastic! Well done you.

Dingle - I'm doing W3r2 on Friday. Legs a bit achy tonight - I'm struggling to get out of the sofa!

And yes to Laura sorting out the rest of my life! What a great idea.

TwasBrillig · 26/06/2013 22:58

Found -yes could do with her sorting out my mess of a life!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/06/2013 07:17

Well done to everyone, so lovely hearing such positive posts :)

Trazzletoes · 27/06/2013 08:09

I've been running on and off for years and have never once actively wanted to go for a run for its own sake. Always feel so glad I did in retrospect though.

BIWI · 27/06/2013 08:34

About to start Week 4 today! Shins still feeling good, but I must remember to keep the stretching going on, especially as the runs are getting longer now.

(53 here, almost 54!)

eminemmerdale · 27/06/2013 08:36

Tell me about endorphins! I do get a massive feeling of 'hurray' when I've finished - not sure if that's just relief though Grin

scarecrow22 · 27/06/2013 09:47

Found that is a sensational time. fantastic. You are another inspiration.

Cider glsd I'm not the only person who celebrates new interests with a good book buy Smile

Did w1r3 this morning before dh went to work. Would have been easy bot to after 48h of both DC being ill and up all hours but sun is out and feel so much better mentally and physically. tbh it I'd lovely to have 30m of not being responsible for a child. (I'd it ok to admit that here?)

CiderwithBuda · 27/06/2013 10:36

Scarecrow - I always do it! The book thing that is! And yes to admitting its good to hand children over for a while. Keeps us sane! Mine is almost 12 though so a bit easier.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/06/2013 10:56

Hell yes scarecrow22, I love my dc with all my heart but love having something just for me and a bit of time to rest the brain and ears

Cinnamon , you were right ! I was going to fast , I slowed the pave today and managed Wk 4 r2 and dare I say it was ok ( still hard but doable )

Well done everyone else . It is such a good feeling to be doing this .
