I was doing some squats in my bedroom today a d because it was quiet I could actually hear my knees creaking and cracking! They have been painful on and off whilst exercising for a whole now but what is the noise??

It's fluid moving between bones/cartilage/ligaments.

What dies that mean though? Is it normal

My knees have always clicked and creaked. I wasn't old when I was young Wink

My knees always do that, even from when I was young.

Ds is ten and his knees also do that. I don't think it is necessarily a bad thing?

Ledkr · 13/04/2013 17:38

I feel as if I should use done wd40 on them Grin

My DD has clicky ankles, you can hear her a mile away! I was told to give her magnesium to strengthen her ligaments, within a week they stopped making a noise.

Our family's are caused by hypermobility and ankles/knees/hips not being quite correctly aligned. We use prescription orthotic insoles for the problem with GREAT results.

I've always had that problem. I've been to the doctor and physio about it and they say 'its normal wear and tear' but its still bothersome.

I might need an arthroscopy to clean the knee if it gets worse Sad

I had an arthroscopy when I was 15. Can't really say it helped to be honest Sad
