Running for charity

Hello, fellow runners (I am one of you now Grin )

I'm doing a 5 miler in July and I'd like to raise money for a local charity support group. Is there some kind of etiquette I need to be aware of? Do I need to check with the race organisers or can I just sign up to Just Giving and get cracking?

Any tips anyone can give me will be gratefully received, I've never done this before. I'm not hoping to raise a fortune, even a few pounds will make a difference.

Thank you!

You can just set up a Just Giving page, is the race you are doing already in aid of a certain harity or is it not affiliated to any charity?

Thanks. Not affiliated as far as I can tell. On the main page it has a few sponsors' logos but nothing about any charity.
