Winter Cycling Clothes for DH for Xmas?

He's a mad keen cyclist but not good at buying proper cycling gear. In this weather i think it's vital!

He cycles long distances - regularly out for 60+ mile rides. For sportives a lot longer.

Any recommendations? Thanks so much - and no MAMIL jokes please!

Depends what he has? And what your budget is?

Heavyweight (at least 200) Icebreaker Merino base layers are always a useful thing in the kit box. As are lightweight merino liner gloves. But it does depend on the first 2 questions.

He just improvises with what he already has - so will wear running trousers, ski gloves etc! Budget is £200. Thanks so much.

Ski gloves are good! My best cold wet weather gloves aren't cycling ones but paddling ones (which when you think about need to deal with cold & wet with movable hands much more than cycling).

A good windproof softshell. [e.g. Gore Phantom but you could easily spend more than 200 on this alone but probably not worth it - however if DH is particular brand concious mamil then it might be worth it - I don't think so though.
A merino base layer - Icebreaker 200 longsleeve crewe say.
Merino liner gloves - Icebreaker 200 again
A windproof outer glove.
Overshoes if he doesn't have them.
A 3/4 or full winter bib tight - this will probably depend on what shorts he likes now as the chamois is very important.
