Babies in bike trailers

This could well be the wring topic but I'll give it a try!

We're off to Centerparcs in September and will have DS who will be 5 months old. We want to hire bikes but I know the official guidance is that babies should be over 6 months to sit in a trailer. I've never used one before so does anyone have any advice? Obviously I want DS to be safe! He does have good head control already though and is pretty strong so if he is able to sit supported would be be ok? Or is this silly?

I know we could just take buggy and walk everywhere but we're staying a fair distance from the Village and will also have DD (3).

I think you could probably fasten car seat into the trailer? I wouldn't put him in without insert (we had special insert for our trailer but doubt centre parks has them) or something at that age tbh

Yes, if you can secure the car seat in the trailer you should be OK. It will add to the weight though!

fasten in the car seat for safety

Thanks for the advice. I did ring CenterParcs to ask about this but was told that it wouldn't be possible to secure the car seat in the trailer. So I think we'll just have to wait until we get there to see. Looks like I might be doing some long walks with the buggy!

I haven't been to CP but do they not have Hamax seats you can hire instead? I would not be putting a baby in a trailer if they can't sit unaided as the seats are not moulded and they will slip about.

Although they also might be unsuitable for a younger baby.
