Safe to keep shredding when newly pregnant?

I'm on day 4 level 2 of the 30 day shred and I'd love to see it through but have just found out I'm (2 weeks) pregnant with my second baby. I can feel my abs toning up and I'm very keen to get them as strong as possible before my tummy pops out again but is it safe to work out this hard?

Has anyone kept shredding through the first trimester?

As a bloke I wasn't going to reply, but when I read up on exercise when DP was pregnant with DD, I was completely happy, and would've very much encouraged her to continue with exactly as much exercise as she wanted. All the research showed being as fit as possible helps both you and the baby, taking up new exercise may be not such a good idea - particularly if you're not up to taking it at an appropriate pace.

DP wasn't shredding, however she did a lot of very intense exercise during the first trimester - even competitively. DD came out very healthy, dealing well with what ended up as a long and annoying labour ending in an emergency c-section.

Of course anecdote doesn't mean much - we could've just been lucky - this book gave us good info on the medical background.

I started doing wii yoga in the early days of my second pregnancy but it made me feel sick so I stopped. I raced kayaks until I was 20 weeks pregnant though...

I think your body will tell you what to do. It has to be said I was really quite fit when I was pregnancy the first time and had a much easier labour than I did second time around when I was mostly knackered from running around after a 2 year old and not training at all as much
