Anybody found any gyms that provide this or is it 16+ everywhere?

my sister's local council gym does classes for children over 8years old and there are some of the local gyms in my area that do classes for children over 7years

My Local council run gym has a juniour gym for under 16's, as well as juniour Zumba and football sessions.

Local council gym allow full gym and class access from 14, but its at full price which is £33 per month or pay as you go and children can get a consessionary price of half price on everything.

It's 14 at our district council gym, but the town council one is 13, but they can't use any weights until they are 16.

It's strange how there is such a furore about children not doing enough exercise, and at the same time, everyone is so over- health and safety conscious that it is very difficult to get them to do anything.

11 at our local, apparently, which I only know because friends take their kids. I think it's a bit mad at 11, personally, but to each their own.

ps: meant to say I mean the "gym" bit of the building, machines & that stuff. Squash courts, swimming, aerobics, are open to all ages anyway.

TheWave · 16/03/2012 13:40

Thanks for the posts. It seems to vary doesn't it? Yes I did mean the gym bit and I didn't mean classes such as zumba. I am still phoning around local places to see if they can go and use the gym facilities, machines etc (without me I would hasten to add). At 11 or so I can understand that it might be dangerous, but, say 14 or older? It seems a shame not to allow them to do that sort of exercise if they would enjoy it and do it regularly.
