Has anyone used a personal trainer?

I really need to do some exercise as I currently do nothing very little Blush

I am a member of a small gym so I could just go and workout there but I loose my motivation very quickly. They do classes there but as it's a small gym there aren't many and none that inspire me!

For an additional charge they also offer Personal Trainer sessions and I was wondering wether this might be something that would be worthwhile for me even if it was just for a month or so.

Has anyone tried one?

Yes and it was worthwhile . I was less inclined to cancel, felt exercises were targeted at what I needed and i got some new ideas- incentive to work out.

Yes. I was training for a triathlon.

The swimming was brilliant but the running etc was good but not much better than I was doing on my own with DH's encouragement. It was also a bit of a nightmare because she (justifiably) needed 24 hours notice to cancel or rearrange but it meant that if I got caught up at work or the DCs suddenly started vomiting etc I was paying for sessions I couldn't use.

I would suggest looking at the couch to 5k type podcasts for running etc as a starting point.

Can I ask how much you paid?

Yes, excellent, I worked harder than i would on my own, much less likely to wimp out etc because she'd turn up at my house anyway. Got definite results.
I paid 25 euro a session, (about an hour)

I can't really justify the money long term though and so it was a good kick start and really makes sure you have good habits wrt posture and doing exercises correctly to minimise injury risk and get maximum benefit. I have just started a couch 2 5k programme and have found the first few sessions alright so I'm off to a good start i hope.

I used a PT and was deffo money well spent. She motivated me and I really enjoyed the sessions. If you can gather the cash it's well worth it, if only to get you started and into a decent habit of exercise.
