Music for a novice runner?

I've just started running again, using couch to 5k, and I'm finding it completely addictive. I've tried before, but always without music because I don't usually listen to anything except Radio 3 and couldn't stand the idea of having things in my ears, but this time I worked out how to listen to things on my phone and nicked my son's headphones and it makes all the difference. So now I've finished the nhs podcast, what should I listen to while running? I see that Bach isn't going to do it here, but I haven't listened to popular music since the late 90s, and not much then, and have no idea where to start. Educate me, please!

If you like rock even a little bit I would recommend Muse (DS is a fan and got me into it).

I always start my run to the Absolution album- the first track, "Intro" is the sound of marching feet quickly followed by "Apocalypse Please" which has a really strong beat at just the right pace for me.

I'm so conditioned now that my feet just start running by themselves when I hear the music- great for when you're not feeling that motivated.

Alternatively pick out some favourite tracks from the 90s or earlier that are about at running pace.

Thanks very much! I'll try the album. I'm so clueless I can't even remember what I liked - I was always more comfortable with classical music and somehow stopped bothering at all when the cd player broke ten years ago and I never got round to any later form of technology. I'm hoping the dc will soon suss ipods and things and tell me how it all works, and then I can nick their music, but meanwhile I'm really sick of the NHS podcast. Any more suggestions?

Try anything by Chicane or Dj Tiesto. Trance music is calming and a good steady beat 140bpm.
