Olympic Park Run - anyone else get a place?

Hi all,

Am a newbie over here, having just started running after a long break. I entered this on a whim to have a goal to aim at -and have got a place! Anyone else?

I started running about 5 weeks ago and have managed a couple of 5k runs, which hurt far less than I thought - so am hopeful of managing 8k happily by March 31st.....although running through the winter will be less fun than if I'd decided to do this during the summer months!

Good luck with your training - you have plenty of time.
DH was lucky enough to get a place too. He runs all the time though so it should be a stroll for him Smile

Very exciting isn't it!

oh good grief, i just checked my emails after seeing this thread and...i got in too!!! i've just started the nhs couch to 5k and i'm only on week 2. what have i done?!
i don't even know who to take. my dp? ds1/2/3? my parents? ooh the runctions ahead Grin and my ankle hurts...and winter is coming... argh!

Hi BellaStella - welcome to the mad runners club!

I haven't even done a fun 5k run, ever, so nothing like starting with a landmark run is there!

Perhaps we can be virtual training buddies together? I have Olympic tickets for the 3 day event, just for me and DD, so my DH and DS1 are coming to watch and my parents are sitting DD, DS2 and DS3 - the latter two are too little really so I'm not going to worry about them 'missing' out.

ChippyMinton - my Dh is doing a half ironman next year, so he sneezes and runs 5 miles, but he's being very supportive and I'm sure that he'll help me through the training, when I decide that it's FAR too cold/wet/icy to get out of bed and run through the winter!

I got a place too. I am very excited!i did c25k a few months ago and now run a 5k each week plus a hill run. I have never run further than 5k so will need to step up the distance after Xmas.

hiya, I'm just back from week 3 run 3. Yuk, it's wet out there. I need some proper wet weather gear. Any recommendations? Cotton t shirts are not my friend anymore!

Panic- i am very impressed with your sneezing and running DH Grin wish I found it so easy. ah well, rest day tomorrow and then onto week 4. slowly but surely...

Hi bellastella

Have had a couple of weeks off due to feeling rotten and ill, but have now started again. Did 2.5 miles this morning and it HURT. I'm going to really try and run three times a week starting on Monday in the mornings and then a longer run at the weekend - but it's SO hard when it's cold and wet at 6am to drag myself out of bed! Still, I just have to keep visualising crossing the line in the stadium.
