sticky it's in Herts. I've lived in Herts all my life, and probably go into Berko once a month or so for evenings out or to get things I need (not my nearest town but the boys go to school a few miles from the town) and it's always like that! Not unpleasant, just ....... odd!

sfxmum · 22/09/2011 13:02

I am not from Liverpool but inlaws live in Preston and we spend Christmas there, easy drive

sfxmum · 22/09/2011 13:05

from Preston that it not from London, traditionally we spend the 23rd of December on the motorway, and in our early days of coupledom that lovely day was spent on the train to Glasgow cramped and insane journey that one, we were so happy to see Preston (something almost unfathomable) Grin

I had a look at ParkRun in Edinburgh. Hmm, I need to up my pace if I don't want to come in significantly behind the others. I'll do a bit more practice on my own before trying it out.

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 13:43

Just a quickie, runners - I just bought an armband for my iphone as I'm getting tired of the same songs on my shuffle and have more music on my phone - but when I move around the music jumps tracks all the time. Am I missing something obvious like a lock button?!

sfxmum · 22/09/2011 13:49

yes paws there should be a setting that stops it jumping track with a shake to shuffle I think it is called

encyclogirl · 22/09/2011 13:50

Well that was an entertaining lunch time read.

A 4 willie household if you count the 2 male pigs (Ben and Jerry), we are currently fattening at the bottom of our garden.

Fairy Welcome! I lurked for a good long while too before I joined in.

June 8 stone is incredible. In only 15 months too. That is some serious commitment. Congratulations!

Not much to report today. Going running around our business park later. Got me Garmin on, planning 6 miles in and hour. That would be awesome.

ibby I totally agree about the bargain run thing. Today's run is a total bargain as I'm going out with the girls later and I have 2 hours to kill between finishing work and meeting them. I plan to get changed into running gear, have my 1 hour run then jump in the showers here at work. Result Grin

peachsmuggler · 22/09/2011 13:52

paws, little button, top right hand side pressed once should lick the iPhone. Same button that you hold down for a few secs to turn it off.

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 14:04

Sorted! Settings, ipod, turn off "shake to shuffle". Just tested it jumping up and down in the kitchen, hope the neighbours were out ....

futurity · 22/09/2011 14:04

its in "settings" -- "ipod" and called "shake to shuffle". I remember having the same problem and couldn't work it out!

futurity · 22/09/2011 14:05

woops...too late! glad you sorted it!

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 14:41

Thanks futurity, glad it's not just me then ....

June2009 · 22/09/2011 18:00

sadly no lucozade gel in the boots I visited this morning, will try this link tonight and sainsburys tomorrow. I do have some other gel (and lucozade energy sweets which I found today) just would feel more comfortable having something that I have tried already.
Thanks for all the messages :) yeah that is quite a weight loss, I'd put just over 5 stones on when pregnant (I blame the hormones and spd!). I think I am at my ideal weight now but having been on "weight loss" for so long it is hard to think differently. And I won't be happy until my tummy looks better. moshi I'm way too chicken for a tummy tuck :D
In the meantime I am so hyped up about Sunday's race it's unbelievable.
Time to go for now, last session at the gym tonight!

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 18:06

That's a shame June as they always seem to be on special offer at ours (3 for 2 or some such). I would definitely try and stick to what you're used to, the last thing you want is to be sprinting to the loo and not for the finish line on your big day.

I'd quite like a tummy tuck actually, I already have a fairly big scar from ds1 and ds3 but sadly they would need to remove a few litres of fat before it would be worthwhile.

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 20:18

did interval run while listening to podcast - about 45 minutes. Should I lengthen the intervals and when that feels OK, up the speed? That's my sense of it. Doing 2 min recoveries at fast walking pace. It didn't seem too hard - guess I need to be working harder, eh?

to my utter astonishment dd gobbled up my home-made cottage pie (she adores and loves the M&S one which we usually keep as a stand-by for evenings where we just can't be arsed cooking are short of time) - just as well, because I think there are about 10 child-sized portions left to freeze - she isn't a big eater (well, unless it's cake)

fire roaring in the grate, shame there's no wine in the house, but I might have a small malt whiskey later.

missmuddle · 22/09/2011 20:50

hello all you runners - don't know if you remember but last week I asked re: muscle problem and the gnr. Have noticed SLF and FB both did better but i finished in 2.22 took it easy . Best thing I've ever done and now have to find another half marathon as i am sure i could do better. Have not been out since as feel I deserve a week off.

MoshiMoshi · 22/09/2011 20:58

rhet - if you are finding the intervals too easy, reduce the recovery time to boost the CV effect from it. 2 mins seems a lot - what length intervals are you doing? There is also lots of benefit to fast running on tired legs to do with running economy etc.

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 22/09/2011 20:58

Wow. Over 400 posts already.

Well done missmuddle

I just popped in to spread the word about an Aldi bargain I got today. A heart rate monitor for only £14.99. I tried mine out this afternoon while doing 30 day shred dvd - it seems to do the job. To be honest it does almost everything my old bells and whistles Polar one did and is easier to operate and more comfy below my underwired sports bra. Oh - and mine is purple Grin.

(And for the record household willy count is 4 including 2 cats.)

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 21:05

missmuddle great stuff, esp with dodgy leg - nice symmetry to the result...sign up for something asap!! don't lose the force

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 22/09/2011 21:06

I'm not sure if I dare venture on here in the evening - its all getting a bit racy and I don't mean in the running sense Grin.

Well done missmuddle - am glad the leg held up and well done on your time !

Well done for entering the edinburgh race bumply

Not much for me today - didn't make the class as decided trying to herd dd2 to pre-school whilst pushing my bike was a bit ambitious but had to do some running around bits for DH's birthday on monday so I did it all on my bike. Was great ! So not sure what sort of a work out that gave me but was better than using the car.

I got my bro to download the RW half marathon sub-2 schedule.... but it was based on running 5 x week which I really can't commit to as it means running saturday and sunday which eats into the weekend a bit. So not sure whether to adapt this one (It would mean I think doing 1 speed session rather than 2, a long run, a steady run and a recovery run and sometimes I'd be able to do 2 weekend sessions) or find another. Any thoughts if you can tear yourselves away from the smut and think about running Wink ?

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 21:08

moshi 3 mins for the faster pace, 4 for the slower (neither pace is close to your easy pace!), but I think I could cut the recoveries to 90 seconds - was ready to go again after about that. Or even a minute

orangehead · 22/09/2011 21:33

Well done on the weight loss june thats impressive. So what does your trainer say to do for tummy? I do weights and lots of tummy excersises - planks, pilates and the ones she does on 30 day shed. But nothing makes a difference.
Glad the scan went ok peachs, I always got them to double check the sex at my extra scans, its good to be sure.
ibbydibby I do the same, ds2 has dance class on monday night and there just isn't the point to go home then come back to pick him up. So I do my run whilst he there. Works well.
Paws I would like a tummy tuck too but can't even afford a garmin never mind a tummy tuck.
Well done Missmuddle. Did you enjoy it?
Had another stressful day at work, short staffed lots of bitching again. What I would give to give up work and just run whenever I feel like it. Got home and found ds2 had had a bad day, start biting himself again Sad (he is being a assessed by camhs at mo and they keep mentioning different things but nothing definite yet, they are very very slow). Anyway on the bright side he was happy when he went to bed and I have a day off work tomorrow Grin might go to the gym.

stickylittlefingers · 22/09/2011 21:35

Well done MissMuddle, what's the next race going to be? :)

rhet how is your DP doing with her course? I hope the bump wasn't too much of a conversation-stopper and she enjoyed it.

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 21:44

sticky thanks for remembering - I think she is absolutely delighted to be doing something outside of the house where she is not primarily someone's mum. She has a spring in her step which is great to see (well, as far as someone who is at 30 weeks can have a spring); it's going to be hard work, I think, but we seem to have done ok this week (of course dd will be sick next week and everything will go to hell in a handcart)

OP posts:
orangehead · 22/09/2011 21:45

What course is she doing rhet
