ok got it, did you ask your dh how he feels about it? I look after dd most of the week (she only does 3 mornings at nursery) and I take her to groups and stuff so at the weekend dh knows he has her on saturday mornings for a few hours. Good bonding time etc. of course 1x dd is not the same as several children to look after.
The race looks like fun I would have like to do it if it had not clashed with my HM.

tummy discussions: well I've been on this bodybuilding site for months now and they all say that your sic pack is made in the kitchen, ie: your diet. (eat clean)
I have lost 8 stones now since June last year so you can imagine my belly is a mess and I hate it. I'm 5ft and 55kg (8st6) so not much fat left but whatever there is is on my abs (together with loose skin). I do despair but my trainer has said that we need to do less cardio and more weight lifting to tone up. One of my friends has been on a similar journey to me and trained with him and although she does not have a six pack her belly is no longer "hanging" like mine is and she looks good enough (after 3 children) to feel comfortable wearing a bikini on the beach. My plan is to work on my diet and do what my trainer tells me and stick at it for a year and hopefully I'll see some results/progress every month (take a pic and compare).

moshi have a great time in SF next week :D If anyone can fit some running in it's you ;)

June2009 · 21/09/2011 22:49

thanks paws I can get to Boots tomorrow!!

stickylittlefingers · 21/09/2011 22:49

Hi June - thefeedstation.com do the lucozade gels, if that's helpful.

We are a one willie household . We don't have stretching here - just much hole analysis.

Erm, I did have the Blackpool illuminations Viewmaster slide.... and oh, oh, I did shag someone from Blackpool once. He was nice. (Seem to have slid back to willies again, sorry about that).

Fairy - I wouldn't be worried. Don't push yourself too hard and risk injury, I reckon so long as you take it fairly easy you'll be fine. Always good to have a low PB, makes it easier to beat the next time :)

stickylittlefingers · 21/09/2011 22:52

just read your later post (sorry, watching telly at the same time delays posting) - 8 stones lost is quite an achievement, wow.

squix · 21/09/2011 23:05

What a conversation for a Wednesday night!

Hmmm Blackpool HM - I am tempted - I have family in southport so could combine a trip ....it's been years since I've been there, from Liverpool originally so lots of memories of nights out to see the lights then being bundled back into the car in nighties to go to sleep on the way home.

Age wise - don't we become veterans after 35 or 40 when it comes to running any way - much more dignified than being an old bird.

And on an exciting note - I have new socks for my run tomorrow - I am unfeasibly excited at the prospect!

squix · 21/09/2011 23:08

And June 8 stone is very impressive! Are you still losing weight or are you able to maintain were you are now?

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 09:33

yes, I rather like the term veteran; 8 stone is a very impressive weight loss - you truly are half the woman you once were june!

I am off to do things with dd today, including buying presents for dp's birthday; intervals in gym at tea time. Looking forward to it

also have to purchase bottles of wine to thank 2 lovely colleagues of mine who made my life a tinier bit easier this week

OP posts:
DrNortherner · 22/09/2011 09:50

Wow June 8 stone weight loss! Amazing.

Lol at "we are a one willie household" Grin

rhetorician · 22/09/2011 10:08

well we are a no willie household with one dd and another on the way. Beat that!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 22/09/2011 10:13

what the hell are you lot on?Grin

I come from a family of women with incidental men mostly for reproduction purposes it seemsHmm
my great grandmother had 8 girls, gran had 3, those had 7 girls and all but my sister also had girls 7 in total and one boy. Willies kind of exotic in our family

8st that is quite a journey

personally I think I need some counselling regarding weight loss I have a real block as loosing weight seems to trigger massive anxiety with health concerns, I am sure it is all connected in my silly brain with mum being diagnosed with cancer and they shrinking out of existence with indecent speed. I am sure it is some sort of unresolved trauma for an early teen.

anyway hopefully will manage a bit of running but cold getting a bit chesty, always frustrating as running goes.

talk of Blackpool, I went there once a couple of years back on Christmas eve, we took dd to the aquarium, it was nice and quiet but the town looked bleak
We were just trying to get away from the Christmas preparations as MIL likes to sort it out herself with no interference from us children Grin

squix · 22/09/2011 10:18

We are a one willie house too.

After a bit of Local London knowledge - I am down to London with work next week - staying close to Hyde Park - I assume that I'll be fine/safe running there either early morning or early evening? And I'll be able to get a decent 3 to 4 mile route?

FairyBasslet · 22/09/2011 10:19

Thanks everyone. Will sign up (gulp) in a bit. Next (and last before the race) long run opportunity is probably Monday as DH likely to be away Saturday and Sunday full of kids' parties etc. Will go to the gym Sat am and do some intervals on the treadmill.

I'm really keen to do this race as the field will be big enough to hide in a bit. If it boosts my confidence enough then there's a much smaller one in November I quite fancy but I would never enter that as my first HM, if you know what I mean.

MoshiMoshi · 22/09/2011 10:28

Welcome to fairy!

I drop off for an evening and return to talk about Fanny T-Shirts, willies and shags with Blackpool lads. This thread is classy!

I had a warm fuzzy feeling when thinking about going to SF last night and how scary it was going to be when I realised my MN friends would be coming with me. How cool is that?

The dog breeder was being very difficult when I mentioned taking the dog with us. She seems to think it is more traumatic to subject the dog to the flight and I should have my dog's best interests at heart and leave the dog with her. I found this very upsetting until I spoke to the vet this morning who said the journey will be fine as she is a young healthy dog and what a great opportunity. Why are people so horrible sometimes? It was as if she had told me to leave my youngest DC behind with the grandparents because she might find it all too unsettling leaving the UK behind.

Oh and talking about running as a FV35, I concur with the view that those vets don't half shift themselves!

MoshiMoshi · 22/09/2011 10:29

Forgot to add, 8 STONE is amazing, june! You have come a long way, lady and should be very proud of yourself! There is always the tummy tuck option? My sister would love one not because she lost 8 stone but after her DC2 she was left with (as her husband refers to it) her 80 year old belly. Grin

peachsmuggler · 22/09/2011 10:35

Ladies, you may scoff at my bain marie, but I will be the one with a gut full of cheesecake and consequently an arse the size of Norfolk, so who's the winner now (as Mark Corrigan might say!) Wink

On way home from hospital. All fine at 32 week scan (phew), and have confirmation that baby is indeed a girl, keeping us a strictly one willy household!

Rhet, you win the prize for lack of household willies. Please accept this phallic symbol in the form of a tasteful glass statue of Blackpool tower.

June, am speechless at your weight loss, well done, you must be proud of yourself. Smile

sfxmum · 22/09/2011 10:38

squix Hyde Park is usually busy with joggers, rollerskaters and whatever kind of new gizmo fitnessy thing you can find and plenty of coppers about

moshi take the word of the vet for it and whatever you do, don't post in the pet boards here you will be virtually lynched, not the warm and fuzzies of runners I can tell you

MoshiMoshi · 22/09/2011 10:39

Delighted all is well, peachy!

sfxmum · 22/09/2011 10:39

peach good to know all well with the baby, hopefully all plain sailing

ibbydibby · 22/09/2011 10:51

June well done on the weight loss. Fantastic! Think I have also bought Lucozade gels in Sainsburys.

Fairy, welcome, have you signed up to the HM yet?

Fanny and DrNo, well done for signing up for Blackpool!

Re scab-story, Debi yes I also wondered why Bonkers was on MN post-bonk.

3 willy household here.

Was out all day Tues and Wed, hence frantically trying to catch up with work things today (just having a short break to MN, you understand..). Getting a bit bogged down with string of emails from superiors at work trying to agree on order of doing things for forthcoming project. Just feel like we are going round and round in circles, I get emailed saying "what do you think is best: method a) or method b)?" I email back saying "I think method b) because......" Email back from same person: "but method a) would be better because ......"

SO WHY ASK ME THEN......

On the plus side discovered this morning that I have won a prize for a MN product test (Hasbro toy test) Smile Smile

Took DS1 to band practice yesterday, my usual is to sit in Waitrose cafe with cup of tea and cake until it is time to go and collect him (it is to far to go back home while he was there). But went for a run instead. Always feels like a bargain when you can fit a run into some other aspect of your life. Got a bit lost in a housing estate though, even though I have run through it several times previously. Embarassing when you pass the same group of children 3 times..

bonkers20 · 22/09/2011 11:19

What do you all do post bonk then?

Do you remain swinging from the chandeliers for a couple of hours?
Oh, was I meant to go straight to sleep maybe.

Ah well, you see the deed was not done in the marital bed but in the lounge (I KNOW!) and since we got down to it at about 9pm or so, we were done by 9.07pm before bedtime, so there was time for MN aswell as sex!

I'm a busy juggling Mother you see, I can do everything!

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 12:05

Wow bonkers 7 minutes, so you had time to do it twice?! Grin

I feel my cold/cough is on the way out - yay! Apart from when I sniffed energetically in the car this morning and got the most horrendous pain again in my face - where were those Sudafed again?

Congratulations June that's amazing - I lost 5 stone a few years back but sadly found 2 of those again thanks to ds3.

Pawsnclaws · 22/09/2011 12:12

Oh and the running update - you know sometimes I forget this is a running thread .....

Managed a comfortable slow 3.5 miles last night, was puffing like a steam train but it's given me hope that things will be better by the weekend.

I'm thinking of doing the Berkhamsted Half next spring, very hilly but beautiful. Spent the morning in Berko, nice but very "odd" town. I had to go there to pick up some football kit as the boys play for a local team. Evidence of odd-ness:

  • reasonable sized sports shop, that only took cash - so cleared me out of my last £20 in shrapnel, which meant I had to find .....
  • a bank. None of them opened till 9.30, and none of them had cash machines that worked outside.
  • stopped for a coffee in Costa and it was like something out of the League of Gentlemen. A coffee you say? Hmm let's see if we can find any (rummage rummage behind the counter ....). Tried a Costa Light as they had no decaf - vile milky slop.
  • offered a lady in the car park the remainder of my parking ticket (about an hour and 10 minutes) and she looked at me like I'd offered her free entry to a sex club and exclaimed "no THANK you!"

Is that me is that all quite odd?

stickylittlefingers · 22/09/2011 12:28

That's great news Peach! Not long before the little Peach (cherry? Strawberry?) will be with us. Hope your last few weeks go well, not too uncomfortable.

Good that you have a sensible vet Moshi, how awful to be told you'd have to leave your dog behind. She may start to bark with one of those squeaky California accents, of course...

ibby well done on slotting in an extra run (though you may want to follow bonkers example (never was an MNer more aptly named) and try and fit in 7 minutes of naughtiness too. There is nothing like multitasking...

Bonkers - you are! It's a good idea though, I don't like anything to interfere with my before sleep novel reading time Wink. I find shaggage gets me a bit worked up Blush and I find it difficult to sleep afterwards, so end up pacing round the house (or indeed MNing!) in the early hours.

Another Beautiful Day here - AND there were running tights on offer in our local outlet so I got to try out my dashing new outfit in perfect conditions Grin. Still not counting times while I recover from Sunday. But watch out Parkrun on Saturday - I will no longer be saving myself ...

fannybanjo · 22/09/2011 12:43

I love the fact that I get the blame for dragging this thread to utter filth... Grin

June well done you! 8 stone Smile. Are you now at target weight?

sfx whereabouts in Liverpool are you from? I was born in Lydiate and DH and I moved from Birkdale to Chester a couple of years ago.
