Thinking of buying DH one (for us all to use Grin) for his birthday. Can anyone tell me which would be a good choice? Either a 2 or 3 person, to be used on the Norfolk Broads/rivers/Scottish lochs. Thanks.

I'd recommend going into a paddlesports shop and asking about them! My ex had one which was great fun but I have no idea what it was! Sorry!

I will say though, get a decent set of paddles, the ones you get with them are awful and cheap is not good for paddling!

Sorry I don't know, but am interested in getting one too, so just marking my place!

hi we got one from amazon recently. its brilliant, the paddles are ok that came with it, we can fit either 2 adults or 1 adult and 2 kids. we used it on the sea off norfolk/cornwall this summer and it was a doddle to blow up/put away. will post when i get home from work the model. i know it was under a hundred pounds.

We have a sevvylor which cost about £300 not including paddles. We went for a double skinned one as it was safer than a single skinned. It would stand up tp knocks and scrapes a little better. We also bought our lifejackets on amazon.
Decathlon and field and trek do them.

Canoeing, Camping and Surfing ....

I have not been on Mumsnet for a while, so have just picked up this post. Did you manage to get sorted with a canoe? We have a dagger open canoe and a sit-on top and both are great depending on what you are planning on doing. Please let me know and then perhaps I can help you, if you are not already sorted. We have been canoeing with our son (7) since he was about 10 months old so I am happy to share my experiences with you. We combine canoeing and surfing with camping. Do you camp too?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have you thought about a folding canoe/kayak? Tend to last decades and perform better. Cost more, but worth it.
