really considering buying some as think it would be a good fun way to exercise... Haven't skated for years (I'm mid thirties) Would I look ridiculous??

I used to and my legs looked amazing as a result, no other exercise (I have tried lots!) has the same effect...but at the time I had lovely long, smooth and traffic free paths to use. Nothing like that where I live now unfortunately, and I'm not good/confident enough to go on the road if necessary. That's the only thing that stops me though (and I am 38), it is such a fun and beneficial way to exercise - go for it!

i bought some rollerblades a couple of years ago and used them twice. But at the time dd was a baby, so i had to skate while pushing her in her trike, it would be much eaiser now, but havnt bothered....

hopefully you would use yours more then mine Smile good luck...

I used to do roller derby and still have my skates. We have a fairly quiet cycle path near me and I sometimes go down there on my skates. You need to make sure you have outdoor wheels if you're skating outside. Go for it, I don't care if people think I look daft. No worse than jogging. Grin

I used to and loved it. It's great if you have a park with nice paths nearby.

I bought my first pair of skates 7 weeks ago. I'm 33! I go with 3 friends who are way better than me, but I love it. We go most Sunday mornings at 8am round the common. My legs are definitely getting a good workout. However, one of the group has ended up in a&e today after spraining her knee Shock

Am 44 & I am going with DC tomorrow to the local indoor rink (hopefully, DD having a tirade now because I changed plan from going today). There are special "Over 16s" nights at many venues.

I don't skate outdoors though, don't like to deal with cleaning the bearings later.

when i was walking the dog along the seaside the other week there was a lady blading. Her legs were so toned!!!! Made me think how much i used to like blading when i was a teenager. Damm being pregnant and not being able to do it! Once this baby has popped out though i'm on ebay buying a pair!

I got mine from here

I live near it so was able to try them on, but they are very helpful staff if you wanted to phone them. I have a pair of rio pink skates which were about £40. You'll find them in the adult roller skate section.
