I must have spent a fortune on sports earphones in the last 5yrs. I find the price of them shocking considering they are so much cheaper without the bits that fit over your ears - but I have realised that I must be buying cheap crap as they always stop working after a few months. Last straw was a pair from Argos that stopped working the first time I took them out Hmm And I had chucked the receipt and the packaging away! Chap in Currys told me it was the constant shaking they get when I run - which begs the question as to why they describe them as 'sports' earphones.

So.... point me to some expensive ones that might last a bit longer. Is there such a thing?

Seinheisser do sport specific ones. ££££ but mine are now 5 years old.

5 years? Shock It's a bleeding miracle. Mine do well to last 5 m. Thanks. Will go and look.

Mine have lasted ages, far more than a couple of months. I don't think they were sold as sports earphones though? I think I've used them for around a year or so. I can't put my hands on them right now but I'll look later. I paid around £30 for them.

Ormirian · 23/05/2011 13:19

Thanks mitford. I've never paid more than about 12 for mine which might well explain it Grin

Had a look for the Seinhesser ones but there are loads of models some of which seem to get very mixed reviews on Amazon. Wonder which model yours was bike?

Seinheisser are awesome. Got mine 4 years ago n they r still perfect! Even considerinmy ears get really sweaty from my hair the ear bit of them is still in good nick! Really good sound quality too. Managed to get mine on Amazon in a sale. About £15

I've got these had them for about 3 years- run in the rain, wind etc. They were a bit tight in my ears to begin with but have eased off now (tend to do very long runs - nearly 2 hours and they get a bit uncomfortable!)
I found the ones which you just pop in your ears continually fell out and I spent time faffing trying to put them and keep them in! I think these are def good value for money!

Thanks folks. Ordered the seinhesser ones. If they stop working after a month I'll be after you.. Grin

Good call!!!

BikeRunSki · 23/05/2011 20:36

Yey, the ones mellie linked to are the ones I have too.

CoteDAzur · 23/05/2011 20:54

May I ask what you find lacking in the standard iPod earphones? I run with these.

The neck band thingie on the earphones you linked to look very uncomfortable for running. Don't they bounce about on your neck?

melliebobs · 23/05/2011 22:23

iPhone headphones are rubbish cos they don't stop in your ears. Tiniest bit of sweat n they are out. Also o have my Teagus of one ear pierced and inner cartlidge on the other so standard headphones dont stay in.

The neck band is fine. U don't even notice it's there its more to keep the buds in ur ears. They don't bounce at all. N the fact I've had um 4 years and not even wanted to swap um says it all

melliebobs · 23/05/2011 22:25

Tragus I meant. Bloody smart phone

squix · 23/05/2011 22:34

I use the ones in the link too - only had them about a year but are still going strong. The band doesn't touch my neck at all and even before I had this pair I found that I at least needed headphones with 'hooks' over the back of my ears as normal earphones popped out too much.

Ormirian · 24/05/2011 06:11

Cote - they fall out! I was finding I was stopping and cussing as much as I was running!

Maybe I have freakish ears. Never had a problem with standard iPod earphones Grin

got some from tesco which clip around your ears, here They're under a tenner.
(I think i have weirdly shaped ears too, can't make the ones inside the ears work at all.)

The soundwise S6 and S1 earphones are the only earphones I have seen that are actually designed as a sports earphone rather than something that was just adapted. I use the S6 and it works really well. It also has 2 year warranty and they never quible. I have had replaced because of accidental damage and they were fine.
