I really like classes and dont mind the gym. I hate running. I really want to tone up and loose a little weight, mostly around my tummy.

Do you think abs attack classes are a good idea? As I have heard before that you cannot loose weight on the belly by isolated exercise for one area...

I did a body pump type of class the other day and loved it, but Im worried that I will start to bulid muscle.

Last time I was constantly going to the gym my legs got quite muscely and my bum was really firm.... And I did mostly weights classes, do you think that is a good idea or not?

Also my recovery time for my muscles seems quite long, im wondering if i should get a protein shake or not?

All advice welcome...

They are probably not a bad idea in themselves, but you need to combine them with a range of stuff. To burn fat from your tummy you need some sort of cardio but it doesn't need to be hours of running. Weights are good as they build lean muscle that in turn burns more day and calories. How about one cardio session a week, plus a couple of sessions of something like the Shred, or Burn Fat Boost Metabolism..., or 6 Week 6 Pack. All hardcore DVDs from the scary Jillian Michaels. There are threads on here about them. Tough but effective.

ive got 30day shred and do try to do it every now and again, but feel much more motivated in a class with others...

Is the 6week 6pack good? how long does it take? and is it also everyday?

I haven't got 6 w 6 P- have shred and BFBM. I believe 6w6p is longer than shred (around 30 mins) - not sure abouthow often you need to do it.

Does your gym run a spin class? This doesn't seem as high impact as running and a bit kinder on the joints but still burns mega calories. This combined with body pump and another class each week you should see some results

yes it does, i did it once and felt like i was going to die, but i will def give it another go at some point...

1xspin and 2xbody pump with 1x body conditioning and 1xzumba thrown in would give you a mix without running or to much cardio in a week

wow - ivykaty - that sounds like alot, 5 different classes, i would never fit that in in one week.... but i need to do somthing as have just realised how much weight i have put on Sad
