Hiya,
I'm a 6ft tall female, can you advise what size frame AND wheel size bicycle would be ideal for me please?

no, sorry. Not an expert. If you go to a bike shop though they are experts :-)

Do not buy a bike in a box from asda/argos etc.

There's a really good website called 'whycycle' which has lots of info on frame sizes/ bike types etc. Sorry, on phone or would link...

That's a small question that needs a huge answer....

The type of bike you get will depend on the sort of cycling you're going to do and the size of frame will depend on the type of bike. Wheel size is pretty much determined by the type of bike (MTBs have 26" wheels and road bikes, and most hybrids, have 700c wheels) but is irrelevant.

So, decide what cycling you want to do and go to a good bike shop. Definately don't buy a bike from a supermarket or Argos. In the cycling world they're known as "Bicycle Shaped Objects" because they're not good enough to be called bicycles.

I've calculated 20" frame from the site kindly suggested by ItsAllGoingToBeFine, I popped into Halfords this afternoon and the 20" really was a little on the small side.
I'm desperately struggling to find a ladies road/commuter bike with a 22" frame for less than a Ford Fiesta.
Seriously, I'm only budgeting for £150.00

You've got two problems. Firstly you're going to find it very difficult to get a women's frame in that size. On the flip side, as long as you're happy to ride a men's frame (and many women do) you'll find it stronger and better to ride.

Secondly, £150 is a tiny amount for a decent bike that won't fall apart after 6 months. I paid £450 for my commuting bike and I'm not going to tell you what you need to pay for a decent road bike.

I've searched a couple of websites and I've found nothing decent under your budget. The best I can find is in Evan's sale. They have a Mongoose Crossway Hybrid and a Dawes Sahara. They're both good bikes and if you have an Evans locally they might be able to get them in for you to try.
