Can anyone give their opinions on the best exercise for me to do if I want a good, overall work out?

I don't know whether to do a class at the leisure centre or maybe try doing karate again. I did karate in my early teens and really enjoyed it but I'm a little Blush about going back as an adult.

What would other mums recommend?

running!

circuit training, mixture of cardio and strength stations.

Will running tone my bingo wings? Lol, and do they do circuit training for wimps? I'm a bit out of practice, returning to 'excercise' after my little girl, at 6 weeks.

Thank you

Kick boxing!!

(looks down on saggy body - yep it's time to go back)

Swimming in terms of cardio and toning up flabby arms. You have to put some effort in though.

But it is very boring and repetitive so i also run and do the 30 day shred DVD.

If you enjoyed karate as a teenager, don't worry about going back as an adult. Our club is stuffed with people who did it in their youth, and return with their own children. Alot of them go on to get their black belts.

Oh and kettlebell workouts do both cardio and resistance training at the same time.

Gets my heart rate up anyway!!!

Thank you all for your suggestions, it might be worth going to a few different things and having a go I suppose!

The best exercise is something you actually enjoy doing, cos that's what you'll keep up :)

Definitely have a go at lots of things - took me a while to find the right exercise combination for me. (A mix of My Fitness Coach for Wii; 6-week programmes for chin ups, push ups, sit ups and squats; and Krav Maga for what it's worth! But I also quite like cycling if the weather is nice).

playthedayaway · 07/03/2011 21:19

Excuse my ignorance but Krav Maga? And thanks RubberDuck, I'm not sure what I'd enjoy so I'll tesy a few things. I liked the Jazzercise when I did that.

It's an Israeli defensive fighting system - a lot geared around defending yourself from multiple attackers and stress testing. That sounds a bit scary (Grin) but it is a lot of fun and does keep you very fit!

Krav Maga
