Best exercise for lower tummy?

Hi all

I am a regular gym-goer and really starting to see a difference after a month of going 3 times a week. I am now looking to target and tone a specific area, which is my lower (below my belly button) stomach where I have a 'pouch' of fat. I have no Dcs so its not pregnancy or child birth related, it is just very stubborn fat!

I've been doing reverse crunches and I'm following a low-carb diet, but what else can I do?

TIA

Toning up your core and the specific muscles with things like reverse crunches will help tone but to get rid of the fat covering the muscles you have to burn it off doing cv exercise.

If you're a member of the gym, the fitness instructors there are trained to advise you.

Thanks SOH, yes doing plenty of cardio, this fat justseems particularly stubborn! I'm an apple shape so store it there. My gym is a council-run one so fairly basic in terms of tuition and advice but cheap so I can't complain.

What SoH said. The only way of reducing this area of fat is to reduce overall body fat.

If you want to tone the muscles of the lower asb more, you can do hanging leg raises: hang from chin up bar, lift bent legs to horizontal, lower.

You can progress to doing it with straight legs, and also to holding the lifted legs for, say 10 seconds.

Our gym has a sort of arm rest/back rest device which makes the exercise easier than doing it hanging.
