Anyone doing it this year? About to launch into training?

Not this year no but very fond memories of 3.5 Moonwalks and one year as a volunteer.

Good luck!

If you need inspiration come this way, I will happily help you alongSmile

I am doing it. I have been training for a few months now and am walking 4-4.5 mph. My longest walk so far is 14 miles. Have you started training yet?

COCKadoodledooo · 22/02/2011 13:17

I am Grin

I walk every day (school is 1.1 miles, so 4.4 miles a day is my minimum!). Longest training walk so far has been 9.9 miles. I'm averaging just below 4mph atm, but it's improving week on week.

Haven't had a chance to do a walk without 10.5kg of toddler in 8kg of pushchair yet, pretty sure I'll be able to go faster without that!

Me too! I always end up pushing DS. :)

I walked from London bridge to Victoria today pushing DS and carrying 3 year old DD in a sling. My legs know about it tonight.

Oh hello!

I haven't done walking training yet, although I did last year and have kept it up to a point. I'm trying to do a combination of running, aquafit, gym and zumba. I have the walking plan - it's a time/weather/opportunity thing at the moment.

After my great start to the week I have done no other walking! Hopefully the weather will be good enough for a stroll tomorrow. :)

Starsandplanets · 19/03/2011 14:20

25 miles in total this week. Went for a 14.4 mile walk this morning and pace was 4.2mph. I am feeling pushed now though,

COCKadoodledooo · 27/04/2011 22:10

How's it going folks? Are we ready yet?!

squix · 28/04/2011 21:35

Not doing the walk but just wanted to wish you all good luck.

I did it 5 years ago in Edinburgh and is one of the best things I've done. I am sure that you all have your own training plans but one thing I found really good was listening to talking books - particularly on long walks - becoming engrossed in a story made the hours fly by.

It always makes me smile at this time of year when I see groups of women out training for the moonwalk.

FebreezeYourJeans · 07/05/2011 23:02

Oh Lord, this time next week I'll be setting off. Just the half moon for me. I last did it perhaps 10 years ago, when it still started from Battersea Park, I was so much fitter then. I've done enough training for the walk, it's only 13 miles, but I'm worried about how shattered I'll be just from the late start (and 3 small children)

Good luck everyone, hope training's going well. Perhaps we should have MN designed bras to recognise each other. PomBear anyone Grin

Bumping this just to say, this time nest week it will all be over!
