Anyone lost weight from Body pump?

Hi everyoneSmile
Just started doing a body pump class at my gym.Found it pretty intense but will stick with it.Was thinking of doing it twice a week combined with one or two sessions on the treadmill in the gym(so 3/4 exercise sessions a week).
Just wanted to know if any of you have lost weight with body pump or is it mainly toning up and building muscle?
Thanks

I go a couple of times a week - didn't lose weight but could eat more crap and stay the same Smile. I have toned up though, and really enjoy being able to increase the weights

I have gone about twice a week for years (with the odd month or two off here and there) - it doesn't seem to make much difference to my weight, however it tones arms & legs, and I like to think it's good for my bone density (getting old!).

For me, I achieve weight loss by changing what I eat. I go to the gym for the toning/fitness effects.

Oh yes, and if you find the treadmill boring, try a body combat class if they do them - very good aerobic workout & uses lots of muscle groups. And also a pilates/balance class, very good for your core strength (..the wobbly middle bits that get missed)

Pump is excellent for a couple of reasons. As mentioned earlier, weight bearing exercise increases bone density, so that's a plus. Also, it increases lean muscle mass, which in turn, burns more calories after exercising.

That, and I sometimes feel a little intimidated to hit the proper weights section of the gym (which I know is ridiculous, but there you have it), and it's a great alternative.

I love pump tbh, I started because I wanted to tone up and now I go because I love the endorpins and feeling stronger

I have had to stop - and oh boy have I lost tone. I havn't put on weight either so I guess the muscel weighed more but I know my shape has changed - not a big amount but it is differnet.

i am hankering after going back to training with weights Smile

There were a lot of woman of a certain age in my class and I did wonder if it was to build bone density

You wont lose body weight when you get on the scales, but you will get fitter, firm up and burn loads of calories.
You will have tight toned muscles.

You wont build big muscles if you are female, as you dont have enough of the male hormone...Testosterone. Guys / Men, you will get bigger muscles (unless you starve yourself) and get so much stronger !
Plus, having good strong muscles means you will burn up calories you consume much quicker, cos muscles burn up loads of calories , much more than fat. !!
I have been a fitness instructor for 14 yrs so know a few facts about fitness.
