Clip on spikes for running shoes

My running partner's yoga teacher has suggested some spikes for trainers, to keep on running in the snow and ice. You can get them from Blacks, apparently. They clip or tie onto your normal running shoes.

Anyone tried them?

If they work it seems to us like a win-win: if it keeps snowy, we can still run; if it stops snowing it is obviously the spikes purchase that triggered the thaw, and that would be money well spent! The big question is whether they work....

Yaktrax.

They are like snow chains for shoes. I've got a pair for runners with a strap across the top. Haven't tried them yet, no snow round here since they arrived, but they are meant to be very good.
