Migranes - scared to run..

I have been getting migranes for the last 6 months ( about 1 every month - classic aura type ones and hospital diagnosed).

I did a 5k race two weeks ago - migrane came on at 1pm (28min run)

Did a 5k Parkrun the next week - migrane came on at pm (29min run)

It ruined my weekend and the run was so not worth it. From googling it seems I have got and exertion migrane.

I am not superfast as you can see. I have been out 3 times since the last migrane (was really scared first time) and have gone much slower (more like 33-35 run and been fine.

So is that the end of my "race" runs? If it is that is really sad - I need that insentive.

Anyone else been struck down after a run.

I used to get migraines as a child, and when pregnant. I get awful headaches (similar to migraines) if I get dehydrated while I exercise. Isotonic drinks make a huge difference. The headaches don't come on immediately and sometimes I have to lie down in the dark just like I would have to for a migraine. Have you made sure you are taking on enough fluid and salt?
