DS has started to show a real interest in running and we have a local weekly 5 km run that he has started doing and a local race in September. He did the run yesterday in his Nike Mercurials (football trainers).

Should I buy him some proper running trainers or will multi purpose trainers be sufficient at his age does anyone know please?

He's 9 years old and shoe size 1.

TIA

go to a local proper sports shop - the indepenant type and ask there advice and show them what you are using and what you are doing

mine sold me a pair of £30 trainers for my 10 year old at the time - she does tri's and loves running
