Title says it all really, sounds stupid but what do i do? any trainer recommendations? should i run with music or not? how far should i aim for?

If i realistically ran 5 days out of 7 for a few weeks, what weight might i lose? thanks and bear with my stupid questions

I did couch potato to 5k in 9weeks which is a podcast that you can download for your mp3 player, with all the instructions on. It was very good. Music deffo a must for me, I sound like some kind of consumptive heffalump if I don't have music, plus it paces me.

I had mbt's already which were fab with regard to trainers, someone else might be able to make reccommendations for you. Obviously if you get the bug and decide to carry on, it's worth getting properly fitted at a running shop; I carefully researched and then purchased some Asics, brill write ups, but the gave me cramps and ankle and knee probs - £70 down the drain!!!

The prog i mention is good because we beginners tend to overreach ourselves at the start and then burn out or get injured, but whatever you choose, deffo leave a day between runs to let your muscles rest and adapt.

Go for inches rather than weight, and you probably won't notice a difference straight away, it seems to all of a sudden happen after you've got a few months under your belt. hth and go for it

This is a really good website, have a look here

I find I need music to run (but if running outside make sure it's not so loud you can't hear anything, that's not safe).

I wear Nike Air trainers but need new ones as I've flattened them I think!

Don't focus too much on weight loss initially, as you may lose fat but gain muscle and so not lose pounds but inches. The improvements to your cardiovascular fitness and health from running 3-4 times a week are pretty quick I found.

u was never athletic, though i did walk a lot

i started running to lose the baby weight + get ready for a charity race

i like new balance - made in the uk so no sweatshops, and not too dear, either (£40ish)

try them on in the shop + run about if you can

couch to 5k is good, i did a modified version of it (run as far as i can for as long as i can, walk for 1 minute, repeat for 20 minutes)

started this in march with the goal of being able to do 5k by the start of june (race for life)

i ran 3x a week usually, and now i can do 5 k no problem, including many steep hills!

I have lost about 2 st and gone from a size 16 to a 12, but this was combined with portion control

do it!

hth
