the Polar RS3000x is in my price range but I just wondered if anyone here has one that they recommend (either to buy or to stay clear of ).

TIA

You could check whether the writer of this blog piece is still using that model...

thanks very much NWG. I've just contacted the writer.

I have a Garmin 305 which is great. Does everything I want it too, very easy to set up, no problems with loss of signal. I use it for running and cycling and it's really easy to switch between the 2 sports.

It's quite bulky and I have skinny wrists so use a wristband underneath but it's size is not an issue for me.

thank you very much for that post as that's the other one I have been looking at. Do you run off road much? Part of today's run for me was quite deep into some woods/forest area and I'm just wondering if that will affect the signal.

Yes, mostly off road but not wooded areas TBH. I run on the South Downs so it's mostly fairly open. I've not lost signal when out on my bike through woody area's but we don't have any proper forests round here.

You can get footpod thingey that goes with the Garmin but obviously that's more cost.

My 3 friends run with the foot pad though and get three different readings for the same route!

I'll get the 305 i think and hope for the best. Thanks again
