Best at-home cross trainer?

I have decided that I now have the space, motivation and need for a cross trainer to use daily while my 10mo baby sleeps.

In my previous pre baby life I used a cross trainer 3 times a week at the gym. I want to buy one that is as comfortable and effective as that one. Is that possible or do I literally have to spend hundreds of pounds?

I have absolutely no idea what to look for but I really want to avoid getting something flimsy and useless. What do you ladies recommend?

ive no particular suggestion - but id say go for the best you can afford - you tend to get what you pay for. i found that out with exercise bikes....the one i got has a saddle like a razor blade and resides under my stairs, waiting for the next car boot sale...

this might help.

Great link thank you Vicar. It appears that the magnet type is the way to go.

Does anyone have a particular model to recommend?

i only use the lifefitness ones at the gym - they are brill but i bet very expensive. with x trainers i bet they are much of a muchness - is there a big fitness store you could go to and test some out at near you? i think it will depend on your budget and the space youve got.

I'm half hoping I can find one on eBay for a bargain. But I could test them first at my local JJB. The trick is to test and not immediately buy the prettiest one!

And while I don't usually have any money, I am coming into a grand this month. I want to spend it on myself for a change!

thats a good idea - go test some, write them down and then google and check Ebay.
