Best at-home cross trainer?

I have decided that I now have the space, motivation and need for a cross trainer to use daily while my 10mo baby sleeps.

In my previous pre baby life I used a cross trainer 3 times a week at the gym. I want to buy one that is as comfortable and effective as that one. Is that possible or do I literally have to spend hundreds of pounds?

I have absolutely no idea what to look for but I really want to avoid getting something flimsy and useless. What do you ladies recommend?

ive no particular suggestion - but id say go for the best you can afford - you tend to get what you pay for. i found that out with exercise bikes....the one i got has a saddle like a razor blade and resides under my stairs, waiting for the next car boot sale...

i only use the lifefitness ones at the gym - they are brill but i bet very expensive. with x trainers i bet they are much of a muchness - is there a big fitness store you could go to and test some out at near you? i think it will depend on your budget and the space youve got.

I'm half hoping I can find one on eBay for a bargain. But I could test them first at my local JJB. The trick is to test and not immediately buy the prettiest one!

And while I don't usually have any money, I am coming into a grand this month. I want to spend it on myself for a change!

thats a good idea - go test some, write them down and then google and check Ebay.
