So Grant Shapps' solution to the shortage of lorry drivers is to allow them to drive longer hours.

Leading to more accidents and deaths on the UK's roads. But Brexit is Job Done and all is well - isn't it?

Well if you bring the Brinjal pickle TatianaBis, we are in Normandy and can meet you on the beach. Coves are a bit tricky here though.

TatianaBis · 02/09/2021 17:23

She can actually parachute which is handy. But you don't want broken pickle jars.

Ill met by moonlight.

My granny used to smuggle in biltong from South Africa in a hat box; this was in the 60s/early 70s Wink

HilaryThorpe · 02/09/2021 17:36

Indeed Proud Titania. But maybe if we can find enough brinjal deprived Brits we could do a joint order from the Corner Shop. They do Waitrose food. 😂

Peregrina · 03/09/2021 07:15

Anyone smuggling in biltong must be desperate!

prettybird · 03/09/2021 08:33

I love biltong Smile Had some beef biltong yesterday that a South African friend with his own drying machine had given to my dad Grin

Wow! De Spaffle's "brilliant" deal has been so wonderful.

The tax office has admitted that British businesses will spend £7.5 billion a year handling customs declarations. Which, coincidentally, happens to be as much as they would have done under a no-deal Brexit.

What a genius...

DuncinToffee · 04/09/2021 09:51

And now the flu jab vaccine delivery is facing a delay of up to two weeks due to a shortage of HGV drivers.

HannibalHayeski · 04/09/2021 14:44

Ah, British people complaining about Britain controlling it's borders...

WrinklesShminkles · 04/09/2021 16:07

Here's a good thread on Frosty's latest idiotic blatherings...

Fascinating how silent the big hitting Tory media is on Johnson breaking a (series of) manifesto pledge(s) when they would have crucified Labour for keeping theirs.

Also, the radio silence on the role (or lack thereof) the Lords in this is telling. Like most people, I can recall the absolute horseshit spouted as a reason for keeping the antediluvian fuckers as "oh they have these special powers". So will they be able to vote down any tax/NI rises that breach the manifesto ? Will they bogroll.

Also there a nasty constitutional (sorry, this is the UK, so that becomes "constitutional") precedent being set here. I heard some tory cuntmeister on R4 claim "force majeure" as justification for breaking a manifesto pledge. So what's the betting that from hereonin, every piece of totalitarian scumbaggery these low rent national socialists want to pass becomes "force majeuere" ?

Because make no mistake about it. Boris Johnson and Tory19 are really just easing us into a period of "national socialism".

For those that like a bit of buyers regret, the country set Mrs DG and I spent the weekend with celebrating a friends wedding were not impressed.

Peregrina · 05/09/2021 17:36

For those that like a bit of buyers regret, the country set Mrs DG and I spent the weekend with celebrating a friends wedding were not impressed.

But the chances are that come the next election, their crosses will go against the name of the Tory candidate.

Despite the media rhetoric, people are now blaming Brexit for the shortages, not the 'pingdemic'. (That was two weeks ago, memories are short!)

prettybird · 06/09/2021 10:22

Interesting but not surprising Wink that the first reason that is stated as to why a company may be unable to treat effluent and have to seek dispensation to discharge it without treatment is the UK’s new relationship with the EU

Sunny but smelly uplands Hmm

As far as the chemicals are concerned, I remember a Question Time when an audience member who was involved in importing them, said that post Brexit this would be a problem. A Brexiter on the panel, I can't remember who, rudely put her down. It seems that she was not wrong.

prettybird · 06/09/2021 12:21

A Brexiter on the [Question Time] panel,

....you're not really narrowing it down there Wink

pointythings · 06/09/2021 12:27

Meanwhile Deadwood Redwood is still singing the Tory tune: Treaty? What treaty?

OP posts:
Peregrina · 06/09/2021 12:29

No, sorry, I can't remember which QT, which insufferable Brexiter Tory it was. Either way, he was talking out of his backside.

Peregrina · 06/09/2021 12:30

One hopes that next time someone signs a Contract with Redwood, that they break it, because after all, why not?

prettybird · 06/09/2021 14:05

Redwood again.....

Confused
