Because there doesn't seem to be a new thread yet. I'm no RTB or any of you other experts, but these threads need to keep going.

Give me a couple weeks and I'll be able to post cat placemarks!

I did wonder what Derxa's opinion was. She kept sheep, I believe.

I honestly would have thought that Australia would be better finding more markets in south east Asia - with substantial numbers of Muslim populations who don't eat pork, and growing populations generally, you would think that would be where the most ready market was.

borntobequiet · 15/06/2021 21:11

Population of Australia under 30 million. Population of EU about 445 million.
BBC in its “lefty” way bigging up Aus trade deal as “potentially” a means to join the CPTPP which would be so beneficial especially if the US rejoins. And of course no one knows the details yet, and probably won’t until after it’s finalised…

HannibalHayeski · 15/06/2021 21:12

OMFG. Even the Daily Heil is spelling it out!

"Army 'must help get food to shops" Die to "Lorry driver shortage after Brexit".

FFS, how fucking successful does Brexshit have to be for this to be a headline in one of the most Brexshit supporting papers!

HannibalHayeski · 15/06/2021 21:13

And how come the HoC weren't allowed to debate the trade deal?

Look at how democratic we are now...

Peregrina · 15/06/2021 21:31

"Army 'must help get food to shops" Die to "Lorry driver shortage after Brexit".

Did the Heil find a way to blame the EU?

jasjas1973 · 15/06/2021 21:37

The army hasn't anywhere nr 10,000 drivers, nor do they have the trucks.

Its a bummer when all those EU care workers, chefs, waiters and 'drivers fuck off like we told em too!

Royal Mail to issue postage stamp listing all benefits of Australian trade deal

DrBlackbird · 15/06/2021 22:10

Are the current crop of Tory politicians totally brain dead?

MSM not right wing... Torygraph? The Times? The Daily Mail? The Sun? The Daily Express? London Evening Standard? The Spectator?

Honestly Louise I haven't laughed so much for days 😂

@DrBlackbird I think you were thinking of the farmer James Rebanks?
This is what he thinks:

It is very clear to me that this goverment has zero real commitment to supporting and protecting British farmers to do anything better than be globalised race-to-the-bottom commodity producers

But it isn't about trade, DGR. It's about deporting people. Do keep up!

Thanks Hester

It's probably fair to say none of us are much surprised that Johnson chooses to opt for an appearance of 'success' every opportunity and happy to screw over any group disadvantaged by his actions.

Still, I'm sorry for British farmers, for consumers, and for livestock.

bellinisurge · 16/06/2021 09:37

I apparently loved to eat tripe as a toddler. My "no-nonsense eat-what-you-are-given " Irish mum said she drew the line at this because it made her feel sick preparing it.

Peregrina · 16/06/2021 09:39

My grandfather regularly enjoyed tripe. It's still considered a delicacy in northern France. (Note to Brexiters - must avoid tripe if the Frogs like it.)

borntobequiet · 16/06/2021 09:40

In my holier than thou younger days I tried to persuade my then boyfriend to eat tripe, a French recipe I think which was supposed to make it better in some way. It was still vile. Any dogs I have had have relished it though. Warning: it’s hard to know whether the cooking smell is worse than the taste and texture or vice versa.

borntobequiet · 16/06/2021 09:42

X posted on the French connection with Peregrina. Obviously I should have gone for the Normandy recipe not the Provençal.

HarrietPierce · 16/06/2021 09:44

We had very little money when I was a child in the 60's and tripe and onions was served up fairly frequently. Luckily my mother was very good cook and could make it palatable although I had no idea what it really was.
