Westministenders: This is not the Brexit we voted for

ListeningQuietly · 08/04/2021 12:06

UK Shellfish industry destroyed because our inshore waters are not clean enough
Welsh Ports on their knees because the Land Bridge has found another route
Horticulture seed producers lost all of their mainland EU customers

Antique dealers lost access to their suppliers
Small businesses being told (by UK Govt) to relocate to the EU to avoid red tape
Brits in the EU discovering that stopping Free Movement applies to them too
Northern Ireland in Unionist flames because there is a border between them and Great Britain, but not the Republic
And the UK has still not taken control of its borders

Brexit is shaping up as predicted, but none of those who voted for it seem to have what they wanted

No Clav, Brexit is a uk decision, its up to the uk to make it work and to have considered all the issues prior to making that decision.

TheSandman · 23/04/2021 17:58

Clav, as far as I can tell it wasn't evil moustacheo-twirling EU apparatchiks that stopped those ponies from entering NI but British officials zealously applying the 'Oven [Half] Baked', ill thought-through rules your beloved BloJob negotiated.

What has the EU to do with those ponies being blocked at the border? Nothing. Looks like another all-UK, home-grown screw up to me

ListeningQuietly · 23/04/2021 18:56

Still no email regarding my deleted post.
I am absolutely certain that Clav was not involved
surreal

So, I'm hanging by my fingertips waiting for a court ruling
that a competent government would have avoided
its so frustrating

that and trying to explain to local council officers
how that level of corruption is accepted
is very very tiring

Oh dear. Pots and kettles in the upper echelons of Brexitories. Bozo says Cummings in not a liar and we must all believe what he says. Barnard Castle, Rose garden, specsavers. Cummings says Bozo is a bit of a fibber and is telling perkins about the recent Bozo text leaks. Well, who shall we trust? Which liar would you pick?

longwayoff · 23/04/2021 19:17

Perkins autocorrect. Porkies

TatianaBis · 23/04/2021 19:49

Cummings is going for BJ I see.

No honour among thieves etc.

‘Mad and unethical’

That makes 2 of them.

longwayoff · 23/04/2021 19:52

Its not often that I LOL at C4 news but who could resist?Grin

HoneysuckIejasmine · 23/04/2021 19:53

That wisteria is beautiful. My dream plant!

Peregrina · 23/04/2021 20:34

What happened on C4 News?

I have to admit, I cannot shed too many tears for Johnson and Cummings.

Yes, Wisteria is very attractive. Would it grow on a west facing wall?

Peregrina · 23/04/2021 20:39

So much of this comes down to Cameron - if he hadn't called his ill thought through Referendum or had put in proper safeguards, we would not have Johnson now as PM. If he'd not dallied with Greensill then the waves would not have spread out to affect Johnson.

borntobequiet · 23/04/2021 20:58

Peregrina my neighbours’ wisteria is thriving on their west facing wall.

The one attractive thing about the house we lived in from when I was 8 was the wisteria all along the south west facing wall, outside my bedroom window. I loved the scent of it in the early summer and catching a whiff of wisteria now takes me back in a flash.

longwayoff · 23/04/2021 21:01

Just the juxtaposition of the 2 sides peregrina, 'he's a liar and I'm not; no he's a liar but I'm not' so predictable and yet unexpected. Life grows more surreal by the day.

QueenOfThorns · 23/04/2021 21:24

That’s a gorgeous wisteria, AuldAlliance Smile

Ours will be spectacular this year, but not for a couple of weeks yet.

Passive and aggressive are my middle names, I’m surprised I’m not deleted more often. I didn’t get a note home though!

Happy birthday, Listening! It wasn’t too subtle for me, but this is the first chance I’ve had to read the thread since you posted Cake

"It is sad to see the PM and his office fall so far below the standards of competence and integrity the country deserves."

I never thought I would agree with a statement by Mr Cummings in this lifetime and yet I have.

Shock

This won't dislodge Johnson, but I intend to get the popcorn out and enjoy the political theatre.

Peregrina · 23/04/2021 22:53

The plot thickens. There is now a statement that there is a Labour activited cell of civil servants called Redthroat

SwedishEdith · 23/04/2021 22:59

Dan Hodges Hmm was pushing that Redthroat distraction last week. Wonder why?
mathanxiety · 24/04/2021 03:32

"...referred to the Fourth Estate"

It seems to me you got my gist all the same, @Clavinova.

LostToucan · 24/04/2021 08:19

Dominic Grieve currently on R4 calling Johnson “a vacuum of integrity” in the wake of the Cummings blethering.

Temp023 · 24/04/2021 08:37

Cummings is an arse, if he told me the sky was blue I’d struggle to believe him !

KonTikki · 24/04/2021 08:41

I don't see Cummings as a deliberate liar. He is abrasive, unpleasant, lacks empathy and a total nightmare to work with. But aiar, no.
Boris, meanwhile, doesn't know when to stop lying.

Peregrina · 24/04/2021 08:52

I certainly see him as one 'being economical with the truth'. We never really got to the bottom of his trips to Durham and environs when they were supposed to have Covid.

FrankieStein402 · 24/04/2021 08:55

I don't see Cummings as a deliberate liar.

Cummings amended a historic blog entry to allow him to claim he had predicted a pandemic, a very deliberate lie.
fullfact.org/health/cummings-blog-coronavirus/

There was no pressing need to do this at the time so I find it hard to believe this was a one-off lie.

TatianaBis · 24/04/2021 09:17

I do see Cummings as a liar, however, it’s a moot point whether he’s lying over this. Possibly telling the truth on the basis that he’s offered his mobile phone records. (Although I’d imagine he has several).

They’re both as bad as each other imo.

TatianaBis · 24/04/2021 09:19

Personally I’d love it if he tries to take BJ and Carrie down. And it all ends in an almighty, undignified squabble. Daffodil
