Westministenders: This is not the Brexit we voted for

ListeningQuietly · 08/04/2021 12:06

UK Shellfish industry destroyed because our inshore waters are not clean enough
Welsh Ports on their knees because the Land Bridge has found another route
Horticulture seed producers lost all of their mainland EU customers

Antique dealers lost access to their suppliers
Small businesses being told (by UK Govt) to relocate to the EU to avoid red tape
Brits in the EU discovering that stopping Free Movement applies to them too
Northern Ireland in Unionist flames because there is a border between them and Great Britain, but not the Republic
And the UK has still not taken control of its borders

Brexit is shaping up as predicted, but none of those who voted for it seem to have what they wanted

But what are your comments on the actual video CnPova?

Enough whataboutery, how about owning your own shit?

jasjas1973 · 14/04/2021 20:39

@Clavinova

But what are your comments on the actual video CnPova?

In the profile link the filmmaker describes himself;

Stefanovic is a high profile Lawyer, no bullshit Journalist, blogger, Filmmaker, campaigner, Labour supporter...

Pretty obvious he isn't a tory lol!

But on the substance, is he wrong about Johnson?

wewereliars · 14/04/2021 20:51

Mr or Ms Cutnpastanova if your sole defence of shyster Johnson is that "other boys are worse" maybe your fandom is misplaced.

HannibalHayes · 14/04/2021 21:01

@wewereliars

Mr or Ms Cutnpastanova if your sole defence of shyster Johnson is that "other boys are worse" maybe your fandom is misplaced.
It's not even that "other boys are worse". It's merely that "other boys may not be entirely perfect".

Hardly a resounding exoneration, to say the least...

LostToucan · 14/04/2021 21:04

Randox are based in Northern Ireland. To be fair - the company does seem like the obvious choice.

Plus all the Paterson Family links / £100k per year payments making it a shoe-in for the Tory pandemic chumocracy Wink

Clav
If I share a Tory leaflet (as I did above)
it is still a Tory leaflet.

What are your comments on what Johnson says in that video

Not only has the video been viewed by millions here - it's also making waves internationally........

No doubt those Tories represent 'pig with blue rosette' places, but really couldn't they have found time to find out what the local issues were?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 14/04/2021 22:31

DrBlackbird · 15/04/2021 08:34

LQ or anyone know what's happening with haulage and trade between U.K. and EU these days? A while back there was a Torygraph article boasting numbers were back to 'normal' trade levels, which seemed surprising. Is there a possibility that we'll end up with massive lorry parks dotted around Kent that remain half empty because of UK traders giving up on exporting to the EU altogether?

ListeningQuietly · 15/04/2021 09:33

Hi there DrB
I admit I've been focusing on the clusterfuck around local government online meetings for the last month or so
and have not been checking in with mates in Dover Harbour as much
BUT
I'm out on the motorway network most days.
The ratio of UK : non UK lorries used to be about 1:1
Now its about 4 UK for every non UK
because there are fewer lorries on the road
and UK seem to have taken up some slack.
That does not bode well for food supply security as hospitality fully re opens over the next few weeks.

The trustworthy data is the ONS and the DHB vehicle movements
ignore ANYTHING in a newspaper unless it links to one of them

OP posts:
Peregrina · 15/04/2021 09:39

LQ - so does this just imply that it's movements of lorries within the UK, and that the EU ones are not coming across?

No doubt Clavinova will be along soon with a wodge of cutn'paste to tell us we are wrong.

ListeningQuietly · 15/04/2021 09:56

Peregrina
From what I can gather, yes.
I'll be chatting to a couple of old DHB mates at the weekend (one of whom lives in Guston)
so will ask which data set is the best to watch.

Also remember that the Land Bridge has gone
so those 500 Irish lorries a day - each way - are gone
and they used to do
Belgium - England
England - Northern Ireland
Republic of Ireland - Belgium
hence why UK lorries are having to do the UK imports
and Northern Ireland is linking tighter and tighter to RoI

LQ if I was able to travel to see my DB I could see what the traffic on the A55 was like. At the times when the boats are due it normally heaves with Irish traffic.

longwayoff · 15/04/2021 10:08

Well thanks, that's good news about child poverty, Clavinova. It hasn't risen to 35% but remains at 30%. Something to brag about, definitely. I will never grasp the Right mindset. This is akin to finding the establishment of the now necessary foodbanks "uplifting" instead of finding them an embarrassment to any civilised country

ListeningQuietly · 15/04/2021 10:18

Peregrina
Google map shows
and the ferry timetable shows
and the local news shows
that the two welsh ports are on their knees.

When I sailed out of Rosslare is struck me as a white elephant with two boats a day each way.
yesterday they had 8 arrivals ...

longwayoff Child poverty of 30% is appalling, there isn't an outcry as people don't worry about things unless they affect them directly. As long as they promise to keep taxes low and legislate to try and keep house prices high with the stamp duty holiday and 95% mortgages (local area is looking like a bubble again), people will feel richer and keep voting for them.

HannibalHayes · 15/04/2021 15:06

The only Brexshit export boom is exporting businesses to Europe.

I can't cope with all the winning...

Jason118 · 15/04/2021 16:34

A good example of how fucked up we are as a country will come with the local elections in May. My county has twice been bankrupt under Tory regimes but I'd take a small wager that my local idiots will once more return a Tory led council. Since there are two new ones being created out of the old one, there will be two Tory led councils. Hope I'm wrong.
