I have a feeling SingingLily will be missing us too Epic

scaryteacher · 31/01/2020 21:32

Sally The guy who ran the local Carrefour reckoned that the UK was making the right decision and that it would all work out well for us. It was interesting to hear a Belgian wish that Belgium would leave and that the whole rotten EU edifice would collapse.

TheRealMcKenna · 31/01/2020 21:32

Sky News Australia seems to be pretty pro Brexit from what I’ve seen.

WeSavedSallySally · 31/01/2020 21:34

Why don't you reporters find these people though....

Oh lord.... Vince cable now!

WeSavedSallySally · 31/01/2020 21:35

Sounds like Farage is speaking and they are interviewing cabel!

scaryteacher · 31/01/2020 21:35

Tony Abbott from an article in the DT writes about Brexit:

'Most of all though, it shows that Britons have not lost that sense of themselves as a country that’s shaped the modern era more than any other – through the mother of parliaments, the world’s common language, the industrial revolution, and the world’s most-played sport; not to mention saving Europe from tyranny not once but twice over the past century.

Rest assured that Britain’s friends are cheering you on as you reclaim your destiny as a sovereign nation; a friend to all but beholden to none.'

Tony Abbott is a former prime minister of Australia

EpicIndividual · 31/01/2020 21:35

TheRealMckenna really?

Couldn’t be more different here! πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ They are currently interviewing Vince jeffing Cable at parliament square.

WeSavedSallySally · 31/01/2020 21:36

Limer · 31/01/2020 21:37

LOL Copper

And I hear the LibDems are keeping on fighting for rejoining - wow, this momentous day just gets better Grin Grin Grin

Sally there are plenty of (insert 2-alpha country identifier here)-exiters all over the EU. We're the first of many to leave. Nice to be blazing the trail for the others Grin

WeSavedSallySally · 31/01/2020 21:38

Scary that's lovely

Esp as just seen Polish lady saying whose going to stand up to Russia for them now. πŸ™„

DustyDiamond · 31/01/2020 21:38

Hi all! πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Less than 90 mins to go! 😱😱😱

Cannot believe we've finally made it!

Lots of times I really thought it might not happen 😳

Brilliant to see all the people in Parliament Square & all the parties up & down the country πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

It's been a real team effort to keep a thread and a voice for Leavers on MN but we did it and just about kept our sanity in the process

True dat 🍷

I thought we were too small and inconsequential.

Staggering really with all the countries left!!

Hopefully they can learn to stand up for themselves.

hospitalityinspector · 31/01/2020 21:40

Just wondering........ did Lily leave us any food or is it BYO tonight? Grin
I'll have a wander into the kitchen to see if she's left us anything.

WeSavedSallySally · 31/01/2020 21:42

I'm a sucker for lily's food.

I hope they sing '' Jerusalem 'tonight.
If I was there I'd start to sing it πŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸΎπŸ™

Absolutepowercorrupts · 31/01/2020 21:42

I didn't think we'd ever get there. Cheers to all

I was thinking back to last month and the election, when voters said 'Enough is enough.' No riots, no marches, no demonstrations, no drama, just a cross on a ballot paper.

This is the thing that is the most fantastic for me I think

I was waxing lyrical to the kids about it tonight

We've forced a reluctant parliament to do something they were especially resistant to, with nothing more than a pencil (or pen πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚) mark on a piece of paper

It's utterly amazing 🍷

EpicIndividual try following Rita Panahi on Twitter!

EpicIndividual · 31/01/2020 21:47

Sky have some nerve calling this brexit live. They are just talking through it. They keep showing images, but not letting us hear anything from Parliament square. Apart from Vince Cable. Ffs.

Oh! Excellent, we get to see stuff and ode to joy from scotland though. Obvs.

Hollycatberry · 31/01/2020 21:50

Thanks for invite dusty! 🍾πŸ₯‚

scaryteacher · 31/01/2020 21:50

Sally Esp as just seen Polish lady saying whose going to stand up to Russia for them now She's evidently never heard of NATO then....

DustyDiamond · 31/01/2020 21:51

I promise to smoke on the balcony, where I've lrft my sneaky pint too.

It's a rather fabulous smoking terrace Hate 😘

I jazzed it up & bunged in some patio heaters & pot plants as that's where I'll be spending most of my evening 🀩

All the cool kids are there πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
