I'm not making a song and dance about it. I'm not falling out with anyone over it. I dont want to debate it. I'm just sad about it.

And that's ok.

Anyone else with me?

Quietly grieving here Sad

Nonnymum · 31/01/2020 20:10

Very sad. I can't forget it either Becaue I have close family members who are EU nationals and other family members who voted leave. I will always find that impossible to understand, or forget and forgive.

ScouseQueen · 31/01/2020 20:12

Just on the 'over 70' point, those even older people who actually remember and lived through the second world war - such as my parents - are often pro European and Remain voters, as my parents were. They had seen the worst alternative and knew its true value. It seems to be those slightly younger who don't remember who are more dismissive.

Roussette · 31/01/2020 20:12

I posted something on Twitter in response to a tweet , and I said that the younger generation will reverse this in decades to come - they know the benefits. The abuse I received from Brexiteers was galling... no sensible discussion just the worst of names I couldn't repeat on here. What does that say?

StCharlotte · 31/01/2020 20:16

I just watched the projection from Led By Donkeys on to the White Cliffs of Dover and had a little cry. It's all so sad.

"This is our star..." tipped me over the edge when I saw that earlier.

I adore Europe and the Continent and I just feel so sad that when I go now, I'll just be a visitor and no longer a citizen. I've loved belonging.

Pretty sure I'll cry myself to sleep tonight Sad

Perhaps we should all hum Auld Lang Syne "together" at 11pm to give ourselves strength. Love to all x

I think I might open a bottle of wine and have a wee weep when the DC have gone to bed.Sad

' I let my guard down , then you ( we) pulled the rug. I was getting kind of used to being someone you loved'
Goodbye EU. It's been a turbulent 45 years. But we still care.
You'll be fine.
Our future is less sure but hoping we can still be friends!
None of it has been easy. Let's hope it's not goodbye forever. We will see you on the dark side of the moon!

PenOrPencil · 31/01/2020 21:10

I live in an overwhelmingly remain town and I can hear fireworks. I am not looking out and I am going to pretend they are creating the EU flag in the night sky. Pass the Gin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 31/01/2020 21:12

I live in a leave area and there are no fireworks at the moment

I suppose they may go off at 11pm

Sossadtoday · 31/01/2020 21:19

I've been really sad and teary for the last few hours now. Tried to keep myself occupied all day but can't escape my feelings and thoughts now. Seeing them take down our flag, oh god. I'm going to sob at 11pm, I can feel it in me

Love and hugs to all of you feeling the same ❤️😢🇪🇺

ScouseQueen · 31/01/2020 21:39

Rousette I got similar hostile responses to tweets. Odd really, you'd think they'd all be busy celebrating! Instead they're still wanting to hit back at anyone expressing Remain sentiments.

Oldandsad · 31/01/2020 21:41

I am very sad.

cantkeepawayforever · 31/01/2020 21:43

Sad.

Roussette · 31/01/2020 21:46

@ScouseQueen
Personally I think there's a sense of worry... what some Brexiteers are hoping for is so indefinable... they can't put it into words which means it might not happen...

SunbeamsOverhead · 31/01/2020 21:48

Still pissed off with those racist twats who voted us out.
Most of them will be worse off than me & frankly I think they deserve it.
Sad. Cross. Embarrassed to be from the same country as them 🤷🏻‍♀️

daytriptovulcan · 31/01/2020 21:48

It's truly depressing. It looks like the bad guys won. Our problematic electoral system has bestowed this on us. 50 million (approx) UK people didn't choose this.

TheGreatWave · 31/01/2020 21:48

All quiet here too. But I have just looked on Facebook and they are most likely at one of the pubs having a party.

Luckily it is just far enough away that I probably won't hear any fireworks or such.

Just seems so pointless.

TheGreatWave · 31/01/2020 21:52

what some Brexiteers are hoping for is so indefinable...

I think they just want to 'leave' so as far as they are concerned it is a done deal, the actual nuts and bolts are totally irrelevant,

But 11pm is also the Transfer Window Deadline, so for once in my life I am pleased that that is on in the background, a much more exciting countdown. And that is words I never thought I would say. Football

WifeofDarth · 31/01/2020 21:54

Am surprised at how sad I feel this eve. It feels like signing the divorce papers after all the high drama.
Since Brexit I have had a passport for another EU country, and my children have one too. So I thought 'well at least we're covered'. But that's not helping tonight.
People are welcome to their parties if that floats their boats. I really can't think of anything to celebrate. So many opportunities thrown away.

Figgygal · 31/01/2020 21:55

I’m sad and angry and disgusted at the behaviour of people tonight
Reports of EU flag burning
WTF!!!

littlebillie · 31/01/2020 21:57

😩

The80sweregreat · 31/01/2020 21:58

No need to set fire to the flags.
It's disgusting whatever your point of view or how people voted.

Roussette · 31/01/2020 22:04

TheGreatWave and Six Nations tomorrow, I need something to cheer me up!

Murrfect · 31/01/2020 22:07

😓

Cupofteaandtoilet · 31/01/2020 22:08

I'm going to bed now as an EU citizen. I will wake up in the morning with fewer rights and in a diminished country. Fuck you Brexit.
