I'm not making a song and dance about it. I'm not falling out with anyone over it. I dont want to debate it. I'm just sad about it.

And that's ok.

Anyone else with me?

I’m devastated. I’m thinking about all my lovely German, Spanish, Belgian & Swedish friends. They admire & love Britain, and they used to look up to us. This is a tragedy for the U.K. and for Europe.

Today will be a very, very sad day for so many of us.

Torchlightt · 31/01/2020 00:39

It's been a tough 3.5 years, and much worse to come. Losing the sense of who we are, who we're sharing this island with, how much control we have over our own lives. The school bullies have won, and God knows what they'll smash up next.

mouldygrapes · 31/01/2020 00:43

Sad is exactly how I feel. It’s inevitable, nothing we can do now but what a bloody crying shame.

I’m still yet to hear of any benefits from Brexit

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 31/01/2020 00:46

I feel very sad about it too and angry at all the gloaters.

TheGirlfromtheFictionDept · 31/01/2020 00:47

I was sad but the whinging Scottish Nationalist threads on here have tipped me over the edge. I'm going to self ID as a leaver and wave a Union Jack flag at 11pm like that twat Farage.

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/01/2020 00:48

Why were you sad TheGirlfromtheFictionDept?Sad

Joining theSad

I could type an essay on how I feel.

MsTSwift · 31/01/2020 00:54

I can only see the negative. The factors that made some discontent were nothing to do with the EU. All the effort and money channelled into this - for what upside? Genuinely don’t get it. Fortunately dh mother is German ironically the children’s German passports arrived today...

SpecLosers · 31/01/2020 00:56

UK does not sadly have a free press. Red tops, will educate the masses.

I don't care if that sounds odd, but to me and my family it is true.

So we are Rejoiners now. and let's see how that goes. No guarantees either..

TheGirlfromtheFictionDept · 31/01/2020 01:01

Because I voted remain, Dione, and for the past 3.5 years I've hoped we wouldn't leave. But since the General Election catastrophe, I've just resigned myself to the inevitable.

And I love my country (England) and am so sick of fellow remainers and ScotNats pissing all over it.

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/01/2020 01:10

You will not rid yourself of ScotNats and Remainers by leaving the EU TheGirlfromtheFictionDept. Nor are they the fault of the EU. We are leaving.Sad We can no longer use the EU as a whipping boy for domestic issues.

The 48 percenters are all here!

On another note what is happening with Gibraltar, haven't heard much.

NI thankfully looks ok but the checks between there and UK could become problematic in time. Still they are not cut off from the SM.

Take note.

Jocasta2018 · 31/01/2020 01:14

I'm sad. I hoped against hope it wouldn't get to this and someone would revoke Article 50. We're losing so much & nobody knows what we're gaining. A bit of a wrench to be honest.

SpecLosers · 31/01/2020 01:15

Do not resign yourselves, become the potential rejoiners!

And watch everything that is going on. We can do this now. Brexit watch and look for all the ways to show the negatives. There will be many.

AtrociousCircumstance · 31/01/2020 01:21

I’m so sad.

Stupid, pointless, backwards Brexit.

Hoped so hard it wouldn’t come to this Sad

FlowerArranger · 31/01/2020 01:24

I'm still angry, not just sad.

I'm currently in a situation where I've had to interact with a rabid, gloating Brexiteer on a daily basis.

I'm trying to KCACO, but I've been close to losing it a few times.

Littlesteps45 · 31/01/2020 01:27

I’m sad too. I look at my children and feel that they have been cheated and robbed by my generation and a perspective that I can’t comprehend.

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/01/2020 01:29

No need to KCACO here FlowerArranger. Just a place to sit with your sadness.Sad

Yes - So sad too. So very sad.

We are losing so much- it has cost so much already in terms of both money and goodwill. We've lost businesses, trade, jobs, respect, camaraderie and a leading seat at the table. We've lost soft diplomatic power, our role as a key gateway into the rest of Europe and the security and protection of being united against Putin. The ability to work and travel in the EU with ease, free EU healthcare and cheaper mobile use abroad, the back up insurance plan of support in times of any hardship- all gone.

And what will be gained? The ability to mirror some basic worker, consumer and food standards, rather than agreeing them collectively. Oh yes and replacement of (needed) European workers who were higher net contributors with increased Asian workers instead.

Oh yes and we've gained international embarrassment and isolation.

My only hope is our prolonged post empire hubris will perhaps finally be replaced with a new humility.

Cupofteaandtoilet · 31/01/2020 05:50

I'm sad too.

eurochick · 31/01/2020 06:10

I'm sad. And embarrassed at what we've become. The Farage and Widdecoombe show in the EP was awful. Everyone else around them was behaving with dignity and they were acting like children. How could so many have been hoodwinked by the likes of those idiots?
