Brexit

What are you most looking forward to POST-Brexit?

I was a remain voter, and voted tactically against the Tories. I lost.

But onwards and upwards! We’re getting Brexit in January, like it or not, so I was just wondering what everyone was looking forward to the most?

I asked on a different pro-Brexit thread but nobody gave me an answer.

For me it’s the 350 million to the NHS with no trade deals with Trump. Or the continuing Peace in NI with no messing around with the GFA. Or the trade deals we’ve been promised without any reduction in standards.

I’m so ready to be convinced of how brilliant Brexit will be! Let me hear your positives, please Flowers

Not a contrast in any case;

"Mr Johnson clearly signals that he will vote to leave the EU if Britain’s relationship with the single market remains unchanged."

malylis · 30/12/2019 16:03

Nope he said contrasting things, and has done so all of his career.

I can't wait for him to do so again as PM but then you and the other fans will claim otherwise.

Parker231 · 30/12/2019 16:08

I still struggle to believe that at the end 2019 the UK is facing the end of FOM (people and goods). Why does the country want to take such a huge step backwards. All the progress leading up to 2019 is being written off for the UK to be heading towards being a third country.

Clavinova · 30/12/2019 16:11

Yes - I'm looking forward to Boris Johnson's 10 year premiership as well.Wink

Peregrina · 30/12/2019 16:19

Why bother to quote what a known liar and cheat did or did not say? He would swear black was white, no it's black I never said it was white. If he said it was raining, you'd look outside to check.

I wouldn't bother looking forward to ten years worth of him being PM Clavinova - Thatcher and Blair were both something of an exception in this respect. Five years is about average and Johnson's dissolute lifestyle - overweight with a fondness for drink - isn't likely to do him any favours health wise.

Clavinova · 30/12/2019 16:24

Yes - Winston Churchill had a rest between his two premierships didn't he? Grin

Parker231 · 30/12/2019 16:41

Once people start to feel the impact of further Tory austerity and the negative changes on their lives post Brexit, Boris won’t be around for long.

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2019 16:44

So what positives are people looking forward to on February 1st?
after the church bells stop ringing ?

Bluerussian · 30/12/2019 16:47

I was a remainer. Now I will just be glad to not hear the word 'Brexit' after a while.

malylis · 30/12/2019 17:01

Boris will be around long, anything that goes wrong will be blamed on the wicked EU or Labour bankrupting the country. The electorate will lap it up too.

ColourMagic · 30/12/2019 17:21

"Now I will just be glad to not hear the word 'Brexit' after a while."

.
You will be hearing the word Brexit frequently for the foreseeable future.

Does anyone actually believe Brexit will ever be "done" ???

.

Parker231 · 30/12/2019 18:05

Phil Hogan has said that he expects Boris will have to break his promise not to extend the post-Brexit transition period beyond the end of 2020. As trade deals take on average 5 - 7 years, it is likely to be many years before Brexit is ‘done’!

Neolara · 30/12/2019 18:08

I am looking forward to the Tory party owning the repercussions of Brexit.

ferrier · 30/12/2019 18:15

@clavinova I commend you for your refusal to be riled by the patronising way in which other posters have attempted to pick holes in your arguments, and for providing so many links.

Wrt a statement made several pages ago, two of my dc are at / have been through uni and a third goes soon. I have never heard of Erasmus.

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2019 18:23

two of my dc are at / have been through uni and a third goes soon. I have never heard of Erasmus
That is sad for them - that they were never offered that opportunity.

Then again it really does depend on the type of course - as UK specific ones will be less likely to have "year overseas" as an option.

malylis · 30/12/2019 18:28

As other posters have said it depends on your course. Although Clavs links and data have been pulled apart, it isn't patronising to question the data or to analyse the evidence properly. Clavs claims about poor students are erroneous

MimiCaeger · 30/12/2019 18:31

Finding out what it was like for my great uncle being a POW in a German camp given the amount of fucking racism going on

Seriously though, nothing.
Maybe the fact people will shut up w. “Get brexit done”, “the will of the people” and so on.

ContinuityError · 30/12/2019 18:42

Johnson's dissolute lifestyle

Carrie bought him a second hand ditch magnet dirt bike for Christmas. Wonder if she is planning a new patio as well?

CrissmussMockers · 30/12/2019 19:25

"No Extension" means either No Deal or Full EEA + Customs Union. Anything in between will take several years and is very unlikely to be done in time for the next election.

Feb reshuffle is going to be very interesting.

Clavinova · 30/12/2019 19:28

@ferrier Thank you!

Have you been watching re-runs of Brookside???

Clavs links and data have been pulled apart
Clavs claims about poor students are erroneous

Oh yes, malylis insists that students from poor backgrounds are living the life of Riley on their humongous maintenance loans - they're too busy partying to get a part-time job during term time.

malylis · 30/12/2019 19:33

Nope, strawman argument there.

I said that full loan plus erasmus provided enough money to study abroad.

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2019 20:12

Clavinova
Why do you hate the Erasmus + scheme ?
What will be better for those students after Brexit ?

In fact, what will be better for you PERSONALLY after Brexit ?

malylis · 30/12/2019 20:21

clav likes to claim schemes like erasmus only benefit the middle classes.

ListeningQuietly · 30/12/2019 20:30

malylis
I suspect that Erasmus does mainly benefit the UK middle class
but that is a UK fault not an EU one
so again I ask,
Clavinova Why do you dislike the idea of Erasmus+
and
What positives are you personally looking forward to on 1st February ?

CrissmussMockers · 30/12/2019 20:36

As photos of Theresa May show, being PM puts years on you, assuming you actually do the job and don't chillax on the sofa like Cameron the lazy fuck.
