Exit poll

Con majority of 68.

65 seats regarded technically as still too close to call. But that could mean an even bigger majority.

Blyth Valley has seen a 10% swing to the cons in line with the exit poll. 1st shock of the night

There must be someone other than Layla!

Yes, you'd think so.

prettybird · 13/12/2019 05:08

Isn't your constituency late to declare TheMustressMhor because it's rural and it takes time for the ballot boxes to be collected? Confused

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 05:08

Skinner has been elected as a hard left MP for several decades - the Beast of Bolsover

Did his constituents only just notice, or has the constituency changed in some way ?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/12/2019 05:09

Centrists looking for solace in the next lib dem leader are going to repeat the same mistakes again. England will have to suffer brexit first before it comes out the other side.

BovaryX · 13/12/2019 05:10

Labour good call to run against Brexit. Grimsby, Workington, Newcastle under Lyme. Gone Conservative. Well done for having vicious little misogynists like Owen Jones as a mascot. Well done for insisting that a second referendum would deliver Remain. Because a bunch of shouty students and their parents clogged up the capital screaming about it. This is the result Labour deserves. Get a mirror. Instead of hurling insults at voters you despise

RedToothBrush · 13/12/2019 05:11

Vera Hobhouse, Ed Davey, Sarah Olney, Munira Wilson, Wendy Chamberlain , Tim Farron, Christine Jardine, Daisy Cooper...

Take your pick.

It’s the constituency I think. All the industry there has gone. You’d have thought the memories of the miners’ strike would still be alive and well though.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/12/2019 05:12

I'm a centrists and I rarely look for solace in any party,
especially not one that thinks that biological sex is a feeling instead of a fact.

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 05:12

@prettybird

It wouldn't surprise me if the ballot boxes for Argyll and Bute were piled up along the A83 somewhere, waiting for a random West Coast Motors bus to pick them up.

placemats · 13/12/2019 05:13

I can't see Boris Johnson lasting 5 years.

If people are sick and tired of Brexit, the awful news is: It's only just begun.

The major hurdle to Johnson is how to move forward as a one nation conservative. The ERG are now on shaky territory.

prettybird · 13/12/2019 05:13

I've been sending a running commentary to my dad about the election results (as per his request) but he may or may not be getting my messages as he's in the middle of nowhere in South Africa at the moment. He'll be pleased that his East Dunbartonshire vote (made by proxy) counted Smile

Lucygoeswalkies · 13/12/2019 05:13

Still waiting for SNP to get up to fifty, but I think I’ll have to go to bed.

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 05:14

Hurling insults, BovaryX?

You seem to be one of the few people hurling insults on this thread.

RedToothBrush · 13/12/2019 05:14

Why the fuck does it have to be Layla ?

Is there some rule that an MP with a willy can't become LDem leader ?

I think the rule is they have to identify as not believing in penises tbh...

gets coat

Bovary A million people of all ages weren't "a bunch of shouty students & their parents"

You disapprove of people peacefully demonstrating for what they believe in ?
Would you disapprove of demonstrating against the policy of a future Labour govt ?

tobee · 13/12/2019 05:15

Hands BovaryX a mirror

TheMustressMhor · 13/12/2019 05:15

SNP have taken Gordon from the Tories.

BovaryX · 13/12/2019 05:16

I have insulted Owen Jones. He’s appalling. The fact Labour have him as a mascot is one reason, inter alia, Labour have been decimated.

BovaryX · 13/12/2019 05:17

They weren’t representative though. Were they?

RedToothBrush · 13/12/2019 05:19

Mr Memory@AmIRightSir
Dennis Skinner's defeat means that the oldest MP in the new House of Commons will be Sir Bill Cash, who is 79

And I believe the father of the house will be Peter Bottomley now.

Not looking forward to seeing Ruth skinny-dipping
(or any other politician except for that lovely young Spanish party leader who posed in the noddy around 2015)

Is that supposed to be a penance for her, or for us ?

CON: 25.8% (+2.0)

WOW.

LDs really thought they'd get it after the Jared O'Mara saga.

CendrillonSings · 13/12/2019 05:21

I can't see Boris Johnson lasting 5 years.

Au contraire. With a big Tory majority, the LDs decimated, and Labour reduced to 200 seats, he has a good chance of being PM for a decade if he wants it...

prettybird · 13/12/2019 05:21

I think the SNP will only get to 49 - Angus MacNeil, Ian Blackford and Brendan O'Hara still to be returned.

They might make 50 if they could take Orkney & Shetland off Liar Carmichael Grin
